Obituary

It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Frank Squires of St. Phillips, age 82 years, at HSC after bravely battling a sudden and brief illness.

Frank was the owner and operator of Heritage Upholstery, a long standing business in St. John’s. He was known for his ingenuity, intellect, creativity, outstanding wit, sense of humor and friendly demeanor. He enjoyed a very active social life, he loved nature, fishing and star gazing. He loved his family and friends fiercely and was loved fiercely in return.

Predeceased by his wife and soul mate Hazel (nee Chafe), parents Virtue and William Squires, sister and brother-in-law Joan and Ivan Mesh, brother Bill Squires, and brothers-in-law Eric Chafe (Mary), Max Chafe, Donny Chafe and Howard Pack.

Leaving behind to mourn with wonderful and priceless memories are his son, Rennie, daughters Valerie (Steve) & Jennifer (Adam), grandchildren Holly, Ben and Sam, special niece Glenda Pack (Peter), sister Lori in Ontario, sisters-in-law Marion Chafe and Sarah Pack, close and special friends Ray Campbell and Jackie Gillett as well as many, many other nieces, nephews and close friends.

Visitation to be held at Carnell’s Funeral Home on Monday, Nov. 7 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM, and Tuesday Nov. 8 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM. Service to be held at Carnell Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, Nov. 9 at 1:00PM. Private burial to take place at St. George’s Cemetery, Petty Harbour.

His family graciously encourages the use of masks while visiting the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Frank’s name to SPCA St. John’s

Frank was our neighbour and friend for a number of years and his obituary captures his nature.. Just a lovely guy.

CONDOLENCES TO FAMILY AND OF FRANK–I first met Frank a very long time ago-when he lived on Thorburn Rd.-But havent seen him in some years-Last time we both buying fish-chips at BY- D SEA-ST.
