Obituary
It is with broken hearts and profound sadness that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother Eva Chafe, aged 71 years. Predeceased by her parents Harry and Mildred Stanley, Father and Mother-in-law, Norman and Mary Chafe, her sister and best friend Mary Lou, brothers Allan, and Tolson, brothers-in-law Robert, Dougie, Kevin and Fred, sister-in-law Maureen, nephew Corey, and other extended family members and friends.
She leaves behind many wonderful memories with her loving husband Gerald, daughter Tammy (Mike), son Jason (Ann Marie), and daughter Susan, her treasured and adored grandsons Matthew, Noah, and Brayden, and brothers Carlson (Yvonne), Scott (Marie), Andy, John, and brother-in-law Keith. Eva will also be remembered by her brother and sisters-in-law Laura (Wally), Ros (Robert), Margaret, Ronnie, David, Norman (Jacqueline), Kim (Pernell), special sister-in-law and friend Roxanne (Melvin), and Carl. She also leaves to mourn a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends (especially Bridie Parrott, and Pauline Mouland).
Eva was very sociable and charismatic throughout her life from her early years working at Mammy’s Bakery, volunteering endless hours and years as a Lioness at the Kilbride Lions Club to fulfilling her career and retiring in December 2025 working as a office manager.
Eva could be found many a summer weekends with her family cooking Sunday dinner, especially her famous gravy, and a cup of tea in hand poking at the fire while listening to the cabin party at her cabin in Mobile.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jillian Parsons, nurses and staff of the HSC 4NB and ICU for their compassionate care over her many hospital stays.
Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Tuesday, May 12 and Wednesday, May 13 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and 6 – 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held from St. Paul’s Anglican Church on Thursday, May 14 at 11 a.m. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to St. Paul’s Anglican Church Roof Fund, or a charity of one’s choice.

To Eva’s family & friends,
I’m heartbroken and saddened to learn of Eva’s passing.
We had many a conversation during her years as the office manager for Allan Murphy . She was a dedicated loyal employee and he was very fortunate to have her. She went above and beyond right up to her retirement.
We’d gotten to know each other personally and I know she loved her family and the cabin in Mobile.
