Mate Florence M. 1936 – 2016 Passed peacefully away surrounded by her thankful family on May 24th, 2016. Predeceased by her parents Carl and Elizabeth Hooper and sister Alma. Leaving with fond and loving memories husband Bishop Martin; daughters: Carolyn (Dean) Tilley, Elizabeth (Betty) (Bruce) Downer and Phyllis (Paul – deceased) and sons John (Stephanie) and Carl (Laura); grandchildren: Evan and Olivia Tilley, Bethany, Matthew and Melanie Downer, Samson Mate, Gabriella (Ella) and Lucas Mate; brother, Clarence (Joan); brother-in-law, Max (Myrtle) and sister-in-law, Violet (Harvey – deceased). Florence leaves a large circle of friends including her nursing General Hospital class of ’62 clergy wives and quilters. Special thanks to the staff at Tiffany Village and St. Patrick’s Mercy Home for the care and attention shown to Florence. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Thursday, May 26th, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 27th, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. from the Anglican Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. Inurnment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Forest Road. In lieu of flowers donations in Florence’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
