Obituary
Passed away peacefully on December 26, 2022, at age 86, Fred Sharpe of St. Phillip’s.
Predeceased by his parents, Charlie and Mary Sharpe (Ploughman; Goldsworthy) step-brother Harris Ploughman; infant son Frederick; and daughter Phyllis.
Left to mourn, his wife Anne Sharpe (Tucker); daughters Carol Mercer (Derek, deceased) and Sharon (Elsa Flack); sons Tony (Sharon) and Keith (Tammy); grandchildren Alison Budgell (Andrew), Matthew Mercer (Brittany), Holly, Anna, Sascha, and Cameron; great-grandchildren Calla Mercer and Bria Budgell. Also left to mourn, his brother-in-law Austin Tucker.
Fred had a long career with the City of St. John’s as a heavy equipment operator. In retirement, he kept a fine garden of vegetables and strawberries, which he shared with many neighbours and friends.
Cremation has taken place and at his request, there will be no visitation or funeral service.
A day of duty done; a day of rest begun.

We enjoyed spending time with Fred the last few months at Agnes Pratt while visiting mom. He was great company on many days! We are thinking of you all during this time.

I am so sorry to hear this sad news today. I remember playing cards with Fred and Anne many years ago. I also remember the times we all had with my Mom and Dad. We are so sorry to hear the news Of Fred’s passing.
I have many fond memories of Fred and he was a great neighbour to Mom.
In the wintertime he would always come down and shovel off her step and check on her and Jack to see if they wanted anything. Mom always felt safe know she had you guys living next door.

Little did we think Annie that years later our Family home would be your new Family Home.
We have lots of good memories of Fred and we loved his strawberries and vegetables which he always brought to us.
