Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre, in the presence of his loving family, Frederick Richard (‘Ted’) Dove, on Tuesday, May 30th, 2023, aged 80. Predeceased by his father Freeman Richard and his mother Tilda Dove-Brown (nee McKinlay), he is remembered as a loving and devoted husband for over sixty years to his wife Heather (Pearce). He was a dedicated loving father for his three children: Lisa (Kevin), Michael (Patricia), and Christina, always there to offer them counsel and support. He was a fun and caring grandfather to: Daniel, Liam, and Colin (their father Stephen), Noah and Michael (their father Brent), Emma and Ryan, who fondly recall visits to the house or cabin where Poppy always made them laugh and feel like superheroes. He was a loving brother to his sister Janice (Dennis), and a cool uncle to her children Cory (Susan and son Charlie) and Lesley. Much loved by his sisters-in-law Christine (Noel), both predeceased, Pam (Kev), and Karen, brother-in-law Bernard, nephews Kevin (Kate), Chris (Tammy), Philip, and Ken (Lauren), and many dear friends and relatives.

Ted was a hard worker, providing for his family at a very early age. He spent most of his career working with various departments in both the provincial and federal governments, including the Employment Development (Job Creation) and Planning and Coordination branches of Employment and Immigration Canada (eventually Services Canada). Ted loved to have a dance, especially to Elvis, have a catch, play the piano, and make his famous ‘Poppy’s Fudge’ for The Newfoundland Chocolate Company.
