Frederick Warren Knight

Passed peacefully away on Friday August 14th, at Pleasant View Towers in St. John’s, Fredrick Warren Knight, age 72 years.

Predeceased by his parents Ruth and Frederick W. Knight Sr. of St. John’s, and his sister Karen Nash Gower, and brother-in-law Donald Gower of Nova Scotia. Leaving to mourn his sister June Somerton (Gordon), nephew David Somerton, nieces Sherril Inglis in New Brunswick and Keely Knight-Nash in Nova Scotia, five great nieces and nephews, Evan and Lauren Somerton in Newfoundland, and Victoria, Elizabeth and Ethan Inglis in New Brunswick, as well as special friends Norma Boone, and neighbours Kevin and Bride Pynn.

Warren lived a quiet life, spending most of his summers at the family summer home at Neary’s Pond, where he loved swimming, trouting, and playing a nice competitive game of croquet or lawn darts followed by a BBQ and a fun game of cards or a long walk. Warren loved little animals and when in St. John’s enjoyed sitting outside feeding the pigeons and other birds that visited the garden. He also devoted a lot of time to his little cat Sue. He had a great sense of humor, and was always ready to share a joke or funny story with family or the neighbours he met on his daily walks. Unfortunately Warren suffered with Crohn’s disease for most of his adult life, but did so with a positive attitude. He remained in the family home and was a devoted son to his mother until such time as they were both struck by Covid and had to be hospitalized. After a lengthy stay in St. Clare’s, he was moved to Pleasant View Towers for extended care, where due to his humor and attitude he became a popular resident.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff and special caregivers of Pleasant View Towers for their kindness, care and compassion shown to Warren during his time there, and as well to the Doctors and staff of St. Clare’s Hospital for their kindness and care during his year in their care.

As he requested, Warren has been cremated and there will be a graveside service held on Wednesday, September 9th at 2:00 pm in the Anglican Cemetery on Kenmount Road.
