Passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving family, on January 10, 2024, at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, Gail Snook, aged 79 years. Predeceased by her parents, Willis and Eileen Russell, and her sister, Faye Clarke.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories: devoted husband of 60 years, Edwin Snook; children, Melanie (Randy), Joanne (Kerry), and Jeff (Andrea); grandchildren, Jacob (Liz), Stephanie (Dan), and Leigha; her precious great-grandson, Theo, who brought many smiles to her face; brother, Wayne Russell (Mary-Lynn); brother-in-law, Cyril (Lorraine); as well as a large circle of relatives and friends.
Gail loved being outside in her beautiful gardens. She looked forward to the spring every year, when she would open her house in New Perlican and spend as much time there as she could. She was an exceptional gardener, growing flowers, vegetables, and even fruit – as this fall, she was so excited to see the harvest from the apple tree that she had nurtured from the sprout of an apple core. She loved the little things in life, like pretty, white lace curtains in her windows, and she was proud when those little touches were noticed, as they often were by passersby. Her sense of humour was enjoyed by all who knew and loved her, and her quick wit brought many laughs at get-togethers with family and friends. Gail was a devout woman who supported her church and attended Sunday services whenever she could. She cherished her time at home with her family and knew and loved us all, despite her struggles with dementia. We will miss her so much.
Cremation has taken place, and a private service in her memory will take place at a later date. Gail was a lifetime supporter of animal rescue groups and she loved her furry grand-babies. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations in Gail’s memory may be made to Beagle Paws Rescue by visiting www.beaglepaws.com/donate.

We are so sad another part of our extended family has moved on. I can hear Mrs. Snook at Glasgow Place as a teenager when we were probably up to no good, and times at Mel and Randy’s in later years asking about our own kids. We are fortunate to have a long history with our lifelong friends Mel, Jo, and Jeff and their families, and their parents. Our thoughts are with you all at this difficult time, cherish the good times, the fun and laughter. All our love and sympathy, Geoff and Jeanette Hillyard.
Melanie, Marie & I are sorry to hear of your mother’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

My wife and I got to know her during her time as a parishioner at St. Stephen the Martyr church services.

Melanie I am so sorry to hear of your mother’s passing. May she Rest In Peace. Cherish the wonderful memories. Take care.
I send my deepest sympathy to you on Gail’s passing from this life to the next. My memories of her range from her radiant smile, to her working compassionately with a high degree of professionalism with young children, to praying and worshipping with her at church. I fondly remember Gail who shone a light for all who knew her. She will be missed here and welcomed in heaven.
It’s only today I came upon the notice of Gail . I am so so shocked,, I worked with Gail, and we both had many laughs together,. Gail was a very good person, with great feelings for others. Gail I will truly miss you and will always remember you.
Snook family, I am so sorry for your loss. I spent as much time at Glasgow Place as my own home during my teens/early twenties. To say the Snooks were a second set of parents would be an understatement. Always caring, there for a kind word and a laugh.
Cherish your memories of her sense of humour and pride in all of your accomplishments. She is so missed. I’ll always remember her laughing at our shenanigans…..
Melanie, Joanne, Jeff and extended family. Our thoughts are with you all during this difficult time.
Rip Mrs. Snook.
One of the many benefits of growing up in our neighbourhood was having “bonus” parents, as the adults became moms and dads to all of the neighbourhood kids. Mrs. Snook (forever “Mrs. Snook”, no matter how old we are) was one of our moms, driving us to & from school, hosting birthday parties, and generally tolerating our rambunctious gang. Jeff and I are so sad to hear of her passing, and send our heartfelt condolences to Mr. Snook, Melanie and Randy, Joanne and Kerry, Jeff and Andrea, and their children and grandchildren. She raised amazing people and will live on through them.
Gail was a member of our congregation for some years, until Covid. We are very saddened to hear of her death. Our deepest condolences to her family. Gail was a woman of faith.; we entrust her into God’s gracious care and keeping. May Gail rest in peace and rise in glory!

Gail was a long life friend of the Trimm family. 50 plus years ago my mother and Gail met during prenatal classes when Gail was pregnant with Mel and mom with me. Little did they know then Melanie and I would be born the same day, grow up in the same neighborhood and go to school and university together and graduate with the same degree. Joanne was only a year behind myself and Mel and their brother Jeff went to school with my brother Steven. We have closely witnessed many life events, marriages, births, anniversaries birthdays and deaths together. My memories of Gail would fill a book. When I was a little child, Glasgow Place was my second home. We were always welcome there and in particular I remember the strawberry shortcakes Gail used to get from Woolworths on Water Street. When my dad got knocked down it was Gail and Melanie who stayed with me when mom went to the hospital. I could go on and on about her kind heartedness. She loved hearing about our escapades I always knew her warmth and generosity Our friendship has lasted even to our years in Trinity Bay. How do you find the words to describe what the Snook family have meant to me and my family?. I know for sure that there is a place in heaven for them. Forever missed, forever loved. Love and deep condolences from the Trimm/Ellis familiy.
Sincere and deepest sympathy to Melanie and her family. I met Mrs Snook in the first couple of years after moving to New Perlican and she brought me books for our little library. A sweet and kind soul. May she rest in peace.
