
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of George Kearley (formerly of Bell Island) at the age of 78, who passed away peacefully at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John’s, surrounded by his loving family, after a prolonged illness.
Predeceased by his parents George and Anne Kearley and brother Wayne.
Leaving to mourn his beloved and cherished wife, Cynthia Kearley (nee Neary); his cousin, Doreen Kearley and his dear friend, Eric Armah; two sons Gary and Darryl Lawrence; two brothers, Nate Hammond (Linda) and Derrick Kearley (Lewis) and also a number of relatives and friends.
Thank-you to the staff at HSC for their compassionate care. I would like to express a special thank you to my dear sister, Gertie, for her exceptional care to me during this most difficult time. Also, thank you to the many who helped care for George during his illness.
George was a lover of music and was such a kind and gentle soul, and will be forever loved and missed.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
Cynthia, I was both shocked and saddened when I read that George had passed away. Please accept my heartfelt and sincere condolences. I will treasure the memories of the friendship that we shared as neighbors. It brings a smile to my face when I remember the love that you both shared for one another. George was a sweet man and just an all around great human being. Biggest hugs to you my friend, treasure all the wonderful memories 💔
I was deeply saddened to hear of his passing. Caring for him was truly a privilege, and over time he became like a father figure to me. I will always cherish the moments we shared together — praying together, watching him enjoy his meals, and seeing the warm smile he carried every day.
He was a kind and good man, and I will miss him greatly. I look forward to the fulfillment of Jehovah’s promise of the resurrection, when we will welcome our loved ones again in perfect health and peace. My heartfelt condolences to the family during this difficult time.
