Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerald (Gerry) Stanley Holwell, aged 80. Gerry passed away peacefully on April 5, 2022 at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital. He is predeceased by parents George and Ada Holwell, parents in law Ralph and Mildred Martin, and brothers Billy, Keith, George (Bud), and sister Yvonne (Bonnie Stone).
Leaving to mourn and celebrate his life, his wife of 50 years, Barbara and daughter Heather. Brother Wayne (Daisy), sisters Doreen Coady (Ed deceased) and Dianne O’Mara (John deceased), sister in law Ann Holwell (Bud deceased), brother in law James Winsor (Margaret deceased) and many special nieces, nephews and cousins whom he loved dearly. Gerry impacted many people with his kindness and generosity. He was loved by his family.
A special thank you to Dr. Genge and the nurses on 4 West for making Gerry’s final days comfortable.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road from 10-12 noon, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, April 8th.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday April 9th, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. from St. Thomas’ Anglican Church. Inurnment will follow at the Anglican Cemetery Columbarium, Kenmount Road.
Flowers will be kindly accepted, or donations made to Canadian Cancer Society.

Barbara, (and Heather as well), are so saddened to hear of Gerry’s passing. Both of you were such great neighbors to Curtis and Caron when they were going to University and living next door to you. Gerry was such a kind, caring person. We always enjoyed visiting you and Gerry when we went to the condo (before COVID, of course).

Marc and I were deeply saddened today to read of Gerry’s passing. Gerry had a great skill for gardening and I’m thankful he passed on his knowledge to me. He was such a great neighbor; Marc and I talked about him for years after we left the cul de sac.
