Obituary

Gerhardt Lawrence Klein, 62, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 4th surrounded by family at the Dr. L.A. Miller Centre in St. John’s, NL.

Gerhardt was born on October 13, 1963 in Toronto, ON to Krista Freimanis and Larry Klein. A beloved husband and best friend of 40 years, a proud and supportive father, and a deeply cherished Opa. Gerhardt had a heart of gold, facing the world with kindness, a sense of humour, and endless curiosity. Known as a blacksmith, woodworker, artist, dreamer, and a fighter until the end.

Gerhardt is survived by his wife, Sue, daughters Amanda and Aria, grandchildren Theo and Lupin, his siblings – Sean (Colleen), Trevor (Robyn), Sandy (Neil), and Marc, along with nieces, nephews, cousins, and the fur babies, Puff, Sam and Loki.

There will be a celebration of life, with details to come at a later date.

He will be forever cherished and missed beyond belief. Until we meet again, rest in peace my love.

Special thank you to the Cancer Centre doctors and HSC staff, exceptional care from Miller Centre Palliative care staff, who went above and beyond for him and our family. Thank you to our community health nurse Michelle Rossiter and team, the Baltimore pharmacy, Katie Boland and staff. To Sue’s Foodland family for their love and support during Gary’s illness. Calvert and Ferryland friends for their endless kindnesses. To our countless friends and neighbours for their constant love and support through every step. And to our family, chosen and blood, who were steadfast in their support of Sue and Amanda especially. We can’t thank you all enough for all that you have done.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Royal Tyrrell Museum in memory of Gerhardt Klein and Krista Cleve.

“A straight line may be the shortest distance between two points, but it is by no means the most interesting.”
