Obituary

It is with heavy hearts we say goodbye to Glen Andrew Perry, who passed away peacefully at the Health Sciences Center Monday April 7, 2025 at the age of 73, surrounded by his family.
Glen met the love of his life, Judy—his high school sweetheart—and together they built a beautiful life filled with laughter, adventure, and unconditional love. Best friends to the very end, they were inseparable. They shared countless memories and adventures together from their early days of camping to their traveling adventures abroad in later years. He found great joy in relaxing in their backyard oasis tending to his vegetable garden, while Judy nurtured her flowers. These moments together brought him much happiness.
A true family man, he worked tirelessly to support and raise his family. From scraped knees to broken hearts, he was always there—ready with a hug, a story, or a quiet word of encouragement. His values live on in his children, who carry forward the lessons he so patiently taught: kindness, humility, and the importance of being present—not just for the big moments, but especially for the little ones that matter most.
A kind and compassionate man, Glen had a heart as big as his laugh. Known for his thoughtful nature and sharp sense of humor, he had a way of making everyone feel seen, heard, respected and valued. He loved a good joke, telling stories of days gone by, and could light up a room with his warmth and wit. Whether it was a game of cribbage, backgammon, Sequence, or solving riddles, he always welcomed the challenge—and the company.
He had a deep love for music and found pure joy in singing along to his favorite songs. Whether he was driving in the car, cooking in the kitchen, relaxing in his favorite recliner, or spending time in the backyard, music was always playing—and so was his voice, singing along with heart and soul.
If something broke, Glen was the first to roll up his sleeves and figure out how to fix it, often with a twinkle in his eye and a quick-witted remark. He never made excuses, always showed up, and took genuine pride in being the one that others could count on—no matter how big or small the problem.
Throughout his life, Glen found joy in sports. Whether playing broomball, baseball, softball, hockey, or curling, he relished the camaraderie and fun of the game. He shared this passion with his children, not just as a supporter but as a coach—dedicating countless evenings and weekends to coaching them in their younger years. He was always there on the sidelines, cheering them on with quiet pride and a warm smile.
His memory lives on in every joke told, every game played, every garden grown, and every story shared around the table. Though he may no longer walk beside us, his love remains a constant presence in our hearts. We are who we are because of him, and our lives are richer for having been loved by him. We take comfort in knowing he is now reunited with Mom, watching over us together with love.
Predeceased by his wife of 45 years Judy Perry(nee Green), his parents, Richard and Norah Perry, brother Richard Perry, Parents-in-law Norman and Patricia Green and close friend John Hanley. Leaving to mourn and celebrate his life, daughter Susan (Duane), son Mark, and his beloved granddaughter Sofia who lovingly called him “Pops”. Also left with wonderful memories are his siblings Catherine Perry, Roy Perry (Barbara), sisters-in-law Joan Stoyles (Reg), Joyce Locke (Brian), brother-in-law Jeffrey Green (Iris), and long time family friend Winnie Hanley.
Glen was a friend to all who knew him and he understood that to have great friends you also had to be one. Over the years he made many great friends through the variety of activities he had been involved with and will be missed by his long time friends Larry Meaney and Craig Williams.

Roy- Sorry to hear about your brother Glenn’s passing-my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Condolences to the family!

One conversation with Glenn emphatically showed me how much he loved his family. He was very proud of them. His love of music was another thing he shared with me. 60’s and 70’s especially. It is no secret that Glenn was a rock that could be counted on to pitch in and help out willingly and gladly. I will miss him, but richer for having known him. It’s important to me first to remember Glenn and his qualities and secondly to try to become like he was.

Susan, Mark and Sofia,

We Loved Glen!
I loved Glen because he had so much love for my sister, Judy. Glen was more like a brother than a brother-in-law. He made you feel you were the most important person with his open arms, super big hugs and a kiss to welcome you. He was kind and willing to give whatever he had. He had a hearty laugh and a big smile. Glen will be missed and never far from our thoughts and memories.

Susan, Mark and the Perry and Green families:
I wish to express my sincere condolences on the passing of Glen, whom I got to know through my long working relationship with Judy, going back to the 1970’s. I also knew of their connection to Gander and how, from time to time, they loved to return to their roots there. Glen was always there for Judy and always had time for a chat. He thoroughly enjoyed curling and the camaraderie that followed, especially at the annual OTS bonspiel.
Treasure your many memories and may the caring of family and friends help to ease your sorrow.

Godspeed my friend. Glen (aka Mack) was a integral part of a small group of buddies that had so much fun at the Art Walker Memorial Ball Field in Gander and throughout the province at Senior B baseball tournments when we were young men. Like many friends distance and life got in the way but we have been keeping in contact since Judy passed. I cherish those memories and loved to read about how he lived his life. One of the absolute finest of people I ever shared time with in my life. A gentleman gone too, too soon.

A beautiful picture of a beautiful soul. Glenn joined my dad , John and I numerous times on fishing trips. He was always a welcomed addition A kind heart and a joyous laugh were Glenn’s trademarks.
RIP my friend, you will be missed.
