It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, partner and friend, who passed peacefully away at the age of 88 at the Health Sciences Centre, surrounded by loving family and friends.

Predeceased by parents Gordon and Mary Jane, loving wife Lorraine (nee Peddle), granddaughter Crystal Ivey, two brothers, and four sisters.

Leaving to mourn daughters Connie, Sherry, and Christine (John); sons David (Mary), Tim (Darrell); long-time partner Minnie Spencer, and special nephew Larry Young (Shelly Maher); 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; special friend Ralph Dobbin, and many more nieces, nephews and a wide circle of extended family and friends.

Gord was a lifetime member of the Goulds Lion’s Club, as well as a long-time supporter of St. Kevin’s Parish. 

Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Saturday, November 19 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., and on Sunday, November 20 from 11 a.m.-7  p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held from St. Kevin’s Parish, Goulds, on Monday, November 21 at 10 a.m.  Interment to follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Gord’s memory may be made to the Mac Simms Camp, Goulds Lion’s Club, or the Canadian Cancer Society Daffodil House.

GORD WAS AN AWESOME MAN.WHEN I CAME TO VISIT HIM AND MY COUSIN MINNIE.HE WAS SO SWEET AND KIND.TOOK ME FOR MY APPOINTMENTS, SHOPPING, AND WHERE EVER I WANTED TO GO HE TOOK ME.. I WILL NEVER FORGET HIS KINDNESS.UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN GORD,REST IN PEACE MY SPECIAL FRIEND.

My heart breaks for all Uncle Gord’s children and Aunt Minnie,Uncle Gord was a great man whom I loved dearly I’ll miss his phone calls,And every time I hear Mother Hen I’ll think off him.

We were so sorry to hear of Gord’s passing but feel very blessed that we had the opportunity to know such a wonderful, and kind man. I have known Gord a long time through St. Kevin’s Parish, however I got to know him well the passed few years through volunteer work at our church. When I think of Gord I think of a dear, sweet man with a wonderful sense of humor and a deep faith. He was knowledgeable about world affairs and up to date on community events. He was genuinely interested in you and how you were doing. He always put a smile on my face. Our sincere condolences to his family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this sad time.
