Travelled to many places in the World with Harj. I’ll miss his regular weekend calls from the other side of the planet.
Bruce Simons, Melbourne, Australia.

I worked with Harj for many years at the Geological Survey and it was sad to hear of his sudden passing. I always enjoyed talking with him at work and outside the office when we gathered with colleagues for a brew or two. He was always well-informed on things and you could count on him for wry and perceptive observations on the world around us. He will be sorely sorely missed, for sure.

Just learned of Harj’s passing. So sad to hear. He was a wonderful person with a passion for life. I haven’t seen him in years since giving up squash but I’ll never forget his kindness. . Deepest condolences to his family.

Harj became a good friend of our family when I worked at the Nfld Geological Survey-and a mean squash partner. After we moved west we maintained the friendship with regular phone chats and his many visits to BC. He was kind and generous and good buddy in the pub. He will be missed.

A colleague and friend. He was instrumental in the development of the Computing Unit for Mining that facilitated the significant growth of the sector in the province.

Deepest condolences to Hodge’s family and friends. It has been many years since I have seen Hodge but I will forever remember his love and passion for the game of squash and the friendships he made. He was responsible for my partaking in tournaments and was so encouraging . He was very kind and has indeed left us with beautiful memories.

too bad about Harjs passing. I’ve been friends with him for a long time. I won’t be able to attend the visitation because of work but just wanted to say goodbye to him in some way

To family and friends of Hodge,
Hodge was a great friend of mine, who I met during my squash career .He took such tremendous pride in the sport and was a great advocate to build and improve the quality. He gave countless hours to promoting the sport, through coaching, refereeing, organizing tournaments and many things behind the scenes. There were many friendships made in this process, as Hodge was such a caring person. He will certainly be missed.

We were very upset to hear of Hodge’s passing.
He was a good neighbour and friend of ours for twenty years, plus meeting Ajay and Geeta on their summer visits.
We cannot forget his mother’s rice puddings, which she shared frequently during those visits. His Christmas parties were legendary, with that wonderful Indian food. Also we would look forward to Hodge treating us to India Gate food, with the best choices to eat. Although we moved to Ontario in 2001 we were always glad to see him at our son David’s parties when visiting St John’s.

We remember Harjit fondly as a good friend throughout our time in St. John’s and as Peter’s colleague at the Geological Survey. We send our condolences to his family and friends.

Hodge was a great friend who cared deeply and took a real interest and pride in the quality and advancement of squash in the province. He gave countless hours to coaching, refereeing and introducing as many people as he could to the game.
He cherished his friendships and we will all miss him dearly.

So very sad to hear of Hodge’s passing. He was one of the pillars of the squash community as well as being a true gentleman with an ever-present smile. I began my squash career in 1978 and Hodge was there to support me. We went to many tournaments together along with Ges Nunn & all the gang. Many happy memories for sure. Both Gail & I will miss you, my friend. Rest peacefully.

Harj was around when I had my babies. Came to events if he could. He was such a generous, generous man. He has a special place in our hearts and will not be forgotten. Our condolences to all.

Joyce:
Sorry to hear of Hodge’s passing.
My sincere condolences to you and his family.

So sad to hear of Harj’s passing. As one of the ‘yobs’ from junior squash in the ‘90s up through my early adult years, I was always impressed with Harj’s enthusiasm and energy for life. His wit, humour and constant smile are hallmarks of his character that positively influenced those lucky enough to have known him. He was a fixture at tournaments for decades and instrumental in the growth and stability of squash in the province. He will be greatly missed.

Sincere sympathy to Hodges Family and especially my former colleagues at Dept of Natural Resources for 37 years especially Ges Nunn. Hodge was such a personable kind and mild mannered person. Always had a smile. Joanne Janes.
