Our dear, loving mother, Helen Marie (nee Parrell) entered into eternal rest on January 19th. By far the greatest gift she passed down was her faith which was deep within her heart, mind and soul. She was known for her meek and gentle nature- always a peacemaker, who ‘had the patience of Job’ and a way with words. Many found refuge in her compassionate heart. Hers was a safe place to land amidst the storms of life. She radiated a spirit of lightheartedness with a beautiful sense of humour and quick wit that would lighten many hearts wherever she went. She lived a simple life dedicated to her vocation of loving wife and mother which was guided by devotional prayer to the Divine Infant Jesus, our Blessed Mother, and many other Angels and Saints. She loved being in nature, at the cabin, fishing by a pond for hours on end, picking berries, doing crossword puzzles, and spending time with family and friends. From time to time we would get a glimpse of her talent for writing and drawing. The following poem she wrote (for a school spirit week), depicts a little of the music in her heart.

Spirit is an attitude

Expressed in many ways,

You’ll find it all around us

At work, at school or play.

Be courageous, think positive

In all the things you do,

Wear a smile, be lighthearted

And others will follow you.

Togetherness and high spiritedness

Is required on any team,

No matter what the satisfaction

No matter what the dream.

Predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years, Melvin; parents, Agatha and Lawrence Parrell, son-in-law, Marvin Kean, siblings, Ron (Nellie), Leo (Edith), Lawrence (Patsy), and Mike Parrell, Alice Power (Cyril), Teresa.
