It is with heavy hearts we regret to announce the sudden passing of our beloved Dad, Herbert Young. Predeceased by his wife Mary (nee Clarke) in 2014.

He is survived by his seven children: Darlene Lewis (Bill); Lisa (Cliff Janes); Terry (Kelly); Corinne Hackett (Greg); Curtis (Courtney); Perry (Catherine); Herbert; his ten grandchildren: Jared (Fiancée Melanie), Cassidy (Michael), Jeremy (Emma); Jordan (Shan) Chad (Chelsea); Alyssa (Matt); Kaleb, Parker, Cameron, Reid; two precious great grandchildren Lynnea and Kali. Numerous family and friends.

Dad was a long-time truck driver with Port Truckers and P F Collins. He was a wonderful Father, hard worker and had a great sense of humour. He had a smile that would make your day. Living at St. Luke’s Home for the past few years, he made a lot of friends. We appreciate the staff there for their help and compassion. A special thank you to St. Luke’s bus driver Keith for the drives you took Dad on. He loved Thursday’s when it was a long drive and included a treat!

Cremation has taken place.

Visitation will be held at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Rd. on Tuesday, February 1st, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Due COVID regulations face masks and vax passes are mandatory when visiting.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday February 1st, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. from the Carnell Memorial Chapel.

So sorry to hear of the loss of your Father. I worked with Herb at PF Collins for many years and I always admired his deep dedication to his wife Mary, and the pride he held for each of his children. His great sense of humor was only trumped by his work ethic, which was no doubt motivated by his desire to take care of his family. I looked forward to watching Herb & Mary “jive” at the PF Collins Christmas Party each year. They were wonderful dancers. I hope they are out there somewhere enjoying a jive to some 50’s music. Herb was a blessing.

To the Young family, so sorry to hear about Herb’s passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

You were a wonderful man . You were a great friend to my dad Ron . You are together again with Aunt Mary .Rip Uncle Herb .

Sorry to hear about the loss of your dad. My thoughts and prayers are with you all, and I want to offer my sincere condolences. I was privileged to have worked with Herb at PF Collins Warehouse – he certainly kept us smiling with his jokes.! Loved that he had nick-names for us all! The love and pride he had for his family was no secret – he spoke of you all often. Celebrate his life – knowing he is now with your mom and treasure your memories.
Rest in Peace Herb.

Sorry to hear of Herb’s passing. I met Herb first in the earl;y 1970’s, while he was working with Port Truckers. He always brought light to a room and smiles to all faces. I am sure that he was doing the same at St. Lukes.

Young Family,

As you grieve for the loss of your Dad, Grandfather , take comfort in the joy he has brought to so many.. Having worked with Herb for many years he would always be there with a smile, a joke, a list of “Nick” names for fellow workers all intended to humour. In his retirement and time at St Luke’s he obviously carried that good nature with him.
May he rest in peace

Darlene, Lisa, Terry, Corinne, Curtis, Perry and Herbert.

Your father was a good decent man, who loved to laugh and had that smile. He had many friends, especially from the road. I always admired your Mom and Dad’s devotion to each other. And to think two people had to go away, find each other and come back here and have a family. That’s a love story. If there is something beyond this life, you know that they found each other again.

Our deepest sympathy to Terry and the Young Family on the passing of your father.. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.. Our deepest condolences. May he rest in peace.
