Howard (Howie) English

May 7, 1971 to September 13, 2025

Obituary

Passed peacefully away at home at the age of 54, Howard (Howie) John English.

Howie had a personality larger than life. As Mom would say, “a room full a house full”. He was always excited to talk about everything from fishing to food. He was kind-hearted and lovable to everyone who knew him. He would shovel a neighbor’s driveway, mow their lawn and anything else they needed.

Howie loved his family and was always ready with a hug when he saw you – and they were big hugs. He enjoyed fishing and the cabin, and he adored his furry friends (Tyson, Franklyn and many, many more). He always jumped at the chance to dog sit for anyone.

Predeceased by his parents, Howard and Clara English.

Leaving to mourn, sister Shelly Squires (Glen) and brother Shawn English (Kerrie).

Also leaving to mourn are his nephew Steven Dillon (Jolene) and his nieces Nicole Squires (Kieran) and Sarah Squires (Brad) who affectionately called him “The Good Uncle”.

Cremation has taken place, there will be no service at this time.

.I want to extend my heartfelt condolences to Howie’s family for the tremendous losses you have endured in recent months. May your memories bring you comfort and strength.

Since learning of Howie’s sudden passing — though we had not seen each other in many years — it has been difficult to comprehend that someone I once shared 14 years of my life with is gone. Howie, wherever you are, I hope there is a lazy river full of fish, your beloved dogs, and everything you need to be at peace. Rest easy.

I’m so very shocked and saddened to learn of Howie’s passing. I first met Howie about 30 years ago through mutual friends. The world will be a little less bright now without his kindness and laughter. Sincere condolences to his family.

I grew up with Howie, and even after I moved away, he always kept in touch through the years. That was just who he was, thoughtful, kind, and full of humor.

Howie truly had a heart of gold. I have so many fond memories of walking home from school and stopping by his house, where he would always welcome me in. I’ll never forget when he got a mini Pac-Man game. He was so excited about it, yet when he saw how much I loved it too, he told me to borrow it for a few days and take it home, even though it was his new prized possession. That was Howie: generous, selfless, and always making others feel special.

I only wish we hadn’t lived so far apart later in life, so I could have spent more time with him. He was such a special man, with a heart of gold.

God bless you, Howie. You will be dearly missed. My sincerest condolences to his friends and family.

I was very shocked to hear of Howie’s passing. My condolences to the family. I have a lot of great childhood memories of Howie and even more while in Halifax.

Rest easy Howie.

I’m very saddened to hear this news. Its been a long time since I was in Howie’s presence, but it was always a pleasure to see his Facebook shares and stories. Howie and family were a big part of my youth. I remember lots of ball hockey games and drives to school in the Sooleys Plumbing van.

Condolences to all.
He will be missed.
