Obituary
Passed on July 1, 2026 at Glenbrook Lodge, Irene Maureen Hodgson (nee Bugden) age 86 years.
Predeceased by her parents Myrtle and Andrew Bugden, husbands Michael O’Brien and Gurney (Bud) Hodgson, brothers Jim, Fred and David and sister-in-law Bonnie.
Leaving to mourn her sons, Paul O’Brien and Wesley Hodgson (Kim), her grandsons, Justin and Mitchell O’Brien, her sisters, Rosalee, Gail (Jerome Peddle) and Paula (Eugene Flynn), her brothers Leslie and Neville, sisters-in-law Nellie, Pierrette and Carol. Nieces Jackie (Wynn), Jane, Meggan (Brian), Jillian, Stephanie (Mike), Susan (Sasha), Sarah and Donna Lee. Nephews Gregory (Jackie), Craig (Marilyn), Jeffery (Krista), Boyd, Freddie, Garry and special cousin, Terry Hussey. Also sixteen grand-nieces and grand nephews and special mention of lifetime friend Colleen Dillon and special friend, Clifton Halliday (deceased). A very large circle of friends past and present.
Special thank you to the Nursing and support staff who provided long term care to Irene during her residency at Glenbrook Lodge.
Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or the Canadian Cancer Society. Visitations at Carnell’s Funeral Home on July 7, 2026 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral service to take place at Carnell’s Chapel on July 8, 2026 at 11 a.m.. As her wish, cremation has been performed.

Sincere sympathy on Irene’s passing. All our family visited her salon up until the time she retired . She was so friendly ( and entertaining). We always enjoyed our visits.

Irene went to her house to do her hair ,for several years. Mom was unable to go to the salon..

I was so saddened to read that Irene had passed away. She was such a sweet person.. She was my hairdresser for many years. I considered her more than my hairdresser, she was also a friend. I looked forward to every visit for a laugh and a yarn. RIP my friend.
