It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our cherished husband, father, and grandfather, James Bernard Brazil of Bellevue, NL on September 16, 2025, at the age of 77 years.
Jim (Dad, Papa) will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by his best friend and devoted wife of 54 years, Janice (“Tiny”); only child: Patti (Norman); twin granddaughters: Kate and Leah (“our girls”) who were his pride and joy. Also left to mourn are his sisters: Mary (Neil), Theresa (Gary), Paula (Rick), Beulah, brother Leo (Muriel), and sisters-in-law. He will also be missed by his grand puppies ‘the boys’, Bentley and Milo, who loved sharing toast with Papa. Jim is predeceased by his parents Leo and Charlotte Brazil, brothers Joseph and Gerard, and sister Angela.
Jim had many passions and was a jack of all trades. He loved to build things and was a talented woodworker, he loved being in the woods cutting logs and firewood, playing guitar, and singing. He also loved to read, watched Jeopardy and hockey, enjoyed cook ups in the shed, but most of all, he loved spending time with his girls—his wife, daughter, and granddaughters who were his world. Jim worked as an underground gold miner for many years until his health set him on a different path and early retirement. We are eternally grateful for the second chance at life he was given through the gift of organ donation 19 years ago. He was an inspiration to his family and will be forever remembered for his strength, determination, and never-give-up attitude. Special thanks to the Kidney Care Centre staff in Mount Pearl over the years and the medical staff at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital during this last month, especially his incredible nurses on 6W and 7W—your compassion and care were extraordinary.
Cremation has taken place. Jim never liked being the center of attention and per his wishes there will be no services.
