It is with deep sorrow that we share the sudden passing of James (Jim) Francis Brewer, at the age of 82, on April 27, 2025, at the Health Science Center.

Jim is predeceased by the love of his life, Lorraine; parents James and Madeline Brewer; brothers Frank and John;, and sister Carol Ann; as well as parents-in-law William and Laura Holwell.

Jim leaves to mourn his daughter, Rhonda (Danny) Squires; granddaughters, Laura (Ben) Stapleton, Danielle (Paul) White, Krista (Jerome) Butler; grandson, Colin Squires and Neil (Becca) Mixer; four great-grandchildren, Emma Hibbs, Julia Stapleton, Katie Stapleton, and his namesake, James Stapleton, who he affectionately called ‘little Jimmy’, also leaving to mourn his brother Thomas Brewer; sisters Mary Ring, Helen Oliver, Kay (Bill) Fudge, Theresa Shishido, Rose (David) Ward; brother-in-law William Holwell Jr., Barbara Greeley, and numerous nieces and nephews, especially his cabin buddy, Danny Ring. He will also be missed dearly by his many friends at the West End Club.

Jim was a man with a kind heart and unwavering love for his family. He dedicated his life to them, always prioritizing their happiness. Jim was a veteran and proud to have served. He loved to spend time in Horse Chops, either hunting, fishing, or just sipping on a cold Dominion Ale.

Jim will be deeply missed by his family and friends, and he leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and strength to all who know him, especially his four great-grandchildren, who affectionately referred to him as 2-pop.

 

Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Friday, May 2, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Mass will be held at Carnell’s Memorial Chapel on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 1:00 pm., with inurnment to follow at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s memory can be made to The Vera Perlin Society or The Children’s Wish Foundation.
