To James friends on Christopher Street who are grieving with us: You started as friends years ago and quickly became family to James’s entire family. You will be forever remembered for your care, concern, compassion- your look outs have not gone unnoticed, your gifts of many kinds are remembered and are deeply etched in our hearts. James spoke of you often and thought of you each in his own special way. To James, Marilyn, Jamie and Amanda we were so lucky to have you so close by and so dedicated-you were there whenever called upon. To James Gull Island family and friends-he loved getting the water going each Spring at the Old Homestead, doing an odd job and reconnecting with everyone going in and out the Lane. James felt that remembering was important, hospitality was second to none and coming home for all of us was important.
Special thanks are extended to Dr. Chaulk, staff at the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Centre and the Dr. Leonard A. Miller Centre. Your devotion to James and the care he received helped him and his family through many difficult times.
James felt privileged to be a part of Holy Family Parish and St. Edwards Parish Families. James was honored to work alongside so many in the church in many different capacities. Fr. Ken noted that James was a valuable part of community and parish life. He lived and died a faithful servant to God. James loved his ministries as was evident when Fr. Ray relayed that when James ministered to the parish he gave wholeheartedly. James felt at home with and for the Roman Catholic Church and the Parishioners. He was honored to be among such good people. James aspired to be a true, faithful servant, a good friend and confidant and was an example for us all.

Just heard of Jim’s passing in the last couple of days. As a work colleague from 1982-1998, I remember Jim as an exceptional employee and a very helpful and caring person to his co-workers. Above all, he was a family man, one of strong character, faith and strength. Rest on peace with your family, Jim.

The world has lost one of the good ones. I sat with Jim briefly at the reception after Amanda’s funeral, and as always, was struck by his quiet strength and unwavering resolve – truly inspirational. Such a kind hearted man. Condolences to his friends and family.
I can’t believe I am reading Jim’s obituary. Such and kind and gentle person. Knowing him from Holy Family parish, which he was such a big part of. Rest in peace in the loving arms of your Lord and Saviour, Jim. Joined with your beautiful family for everlasting time.

I am so sadden to hear about Jim’s passing. I had the privilege of taking care of Jim and his family for the last 40 years. Youcould not find a nicer person and a nicer family. My condolences to all his family and friends.
I had the honour and the privilege of knowing and working with Jim for some ten years at the Offshore Board. I got to know him as a true friend and a man of the highest personal and professional integrity. Despite the enormous challenges which life dealt him and his family, he was an inspiration to us all—a truly remarkable man.
Go Rest High On That Mountain, my friend, together with your family again.
In conversations with many and reading the heartfelt sentiments of neighbours & friends, I believe we have all had the privilege of witnessing true heroism!
Jim Doyle showed us all the quiet daily commitment of courage, strength & sacrifice in being ever present for loved ones and others when depleted himself with heartache and unimaginable loss. This exceptional bravery and selflessness will stay in our hearts forever.
There is still much to learn from The Doyle Family.
Sleep in Heavenly Peace!
With heartfelt sympathy, love and prayers,
Andrea & Gary Penney & Family
I echo the sentiments of my co-workers. Over many decades, without exception, I always came away from a conversation with Jim feeling uplifted and refreshed, He was a uniquely positive person. I sincerely hope he rests in peace. He certainly deserves it.
Sincere condolences to the Family.
Mr. Doyle was my next-door neighbour growing up. When I think back on my childhood, so many of those memories include the Doyle family. They were always there, and I honestly don’t think I realized at the time how much of an impact they would have on my life.
The last few years, I’d often run into Mr. Doyle in the driveway and we’d stop and chat. He was a quiet, private man, but those conversations always meant something. The last long conversation we had was a few days after Amanda’s funeral, and it’s one I will always hold close to my heart.
It’s hard to wrap my head around the fact that Jamie, Mrs Doyle, Amanda and now Mr. Doyle are all gone. It feels surreal. Truthfully, it makes me angry. Cancer has taken far too much from a family that gave so much to the people around them.
The Doyles were some of the best people I’ve ever known. Kind, genuine, hardworking, and deeply loved. Looking back, I have no doubt they helped shape who I became, and I suspect they even played a small part in inspiring my career in nursing.
My heart is with everyone who loved them. I feel incredibly lucky to have known them and to have grown up next door.
Some people leave a mark on your life that never fades. The Doyle family will always be that for me.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Jim’s family. I worked with him for many years. He was always a kind and gentle soul regardless of what was going on. He is finally with his family. Rest in peace my friend.

We are saddened to hear that James has passed. Rest in peace.
We called him Mr. Doyle as a kids growing up in the cul-de-sac on Christopher St., Angela Place and Tanya Place. Always kind, he held his faith close and I believe that is what got him through the many hardships he has had to face over the last 20 plus years. I last saw Jim at Amanda’s funeral,. I never thought I would be writing a condolence for Jim today. While my heart is sad, I am glad he did not suffer a lengthy illness and that he is now reunited with his beautiful family in heaven. To Jim’s family and friends I pass along my sincere condolences. May you rest in peace now Mr. Doyle, always and forever remembered as a wonderful neighbour, a person of great faith and a friend. Xo
I’m sorry to hear this. I first met Jim when I joined the NL Petroleum Directorate in mid-1982. He was a part of my working life until his retirement some twenty years later. I’ll always remember and admire him as a gentleman, a fine man.
My sympathies to his family.
It is with a heavy heart and deep respect that we pass on our sincere condolences to the siblings of our friend and neighbor Jim Doyle who had to bear the burden of the passing of all members of his beautiful family. I met Jim for the first time when we both worked for the provincial government. I appreciated how helpful he was when we needed information and later on in life we became his neighbor and friend. You have fought the good fight you have finished the race.. May God guide you along your way to be united forever with your family.. God Bless us all and help us cope with the loss of such a dear member of our Church and community. REST IN Peace
