It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joan Marie Fleming (nee O’Reilly) age 85 on June 7, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Edward (Ned); parents William and Lillian (nee Chafe); brother Art (Marlene); sisters, Doris Reilly-Heim (Frank), Betty Clarke (Mike).
Leaving to mourn her dear sons: William (Vivian), Danny (Donna) and Scott (Jody); beloved daughter Tina; brothers: Doug (Betty) and Don (Connie); sisters: Beverly (Gordon, deceased), Daphney (Dave) and Velma (Brian). Her adored grandchildren Ian, John, Adam, Dylan, Nicholas, Makayla, Matthew, Nathan and Ryan who brought endless pride and joy to her life. Also, many nieces and nephews.
Joan lived a life with kindness, compassion and deep love for those around her. She’ll be remembered for her warm smile and the unconditional love she gave so freely. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend whose spirit and caring heart touched everyone who knew her. She was also a proud and hardworking woman who in her earlier years, played an active role in the family sawmill and meat market businesses – an experience that reflected her strength, resilience and dedication.
She found her greatest happiness in the simple joys of life – time spent with family, cooking (especially her amazing dinner rolls), hosting family gatherings and playing cards. Her home was always a place of comfort, warmth and welcome. The memories she created, the lessons she shared and the love she gave will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors and staff at Pleasant View Towers for the exceptional care, compassion and kindness shown to Joan throughout her time there. Your support and dedication meant more to our family than words can express.
Please join us to mourn her passing and celebrate her life on Tuesday June 16th, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Kevin’s Parish Church, Goulds. Joan will be laid to rest immediately following service at Mount Carmel cemetery with her beloved husband Ned Fleming.
The family will host a reception at Doug O’Reilly’s, 429 Main Road, Goulds following the burial.
Flowers graciously accepted or a donation in Joan’s name may be made to the Alzheimer Society.

So sorry to hear of Joan’s passing. Our sincere condolences to Tina and her brothers and Doug and Betty and to all of Joan’s loved ones, Joan was a very sweet lady. We were friends back years ago when she was a good friend of Waynes brother, Ron. Thinking of you all at this difficult time. May she rest in eternal peace. 🌹

Our mom (Lillian Tucker) has been a “neighbour “ of your mom while In Pleasantview Towers for the past number of years both on 2NE and again on 2SW. Danny, you & I have shared many stories of our moms during some visits and at special gatherings such as the Garden or Xmas Party’s. Its during those visits that I remember your mom’s beautiful smile! May she rest in peace 🙏
Deepest condolences to all Joan’s family, she was a special kind person. I still remember calling her aunt Joan and she curse at me and say I’m your cousin, you’re making me seem old. She always had kind words for me and asked how everyone was. Thoughts and prayers to you all.

Tina – I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your Mom. I have such wonderful memories of her in Texas, I still chuckle when I recall the little “if I get lost” kit we put together for her. She loved us like we were her family. And her cooking and baking kept us all very happy 🙂 Thinking of you. Janet
