Obituary
Passed peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 21,2017 at the age of 80 years. Predeceased by his parents Tom and Nora Ghaney, brothers Sam and Patrick, sisters Marcella Doyle (late Patrick) and Mary Moore (late Michael), leaving with fond memories his wife Rose, John’s children; Wayne (Andrea),Keith (Sharon), John Jr. (Annette), daughters Lynn Collins (Reg), Cathy Power (Sean), Lisa Ennis (Tony) and son Barry, 13 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, brothers Charles and Gordon Ghaney (Olive), sisters-in-law Madonna Ghaney and Florence Ghaney, many nieces, nephews, family and friends. John was a long term, retired member of the city of St. John’s. Special thank you to friends Jim and Geraldine Wade, Dr. Roy Chaulk, Dr. Sathia and staff at Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Centre. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral home, 1045 Topsail Road, on Wednesday from 4-9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday March 24,2017 at 10 a.m. from Holy Family Parish with interment to follow at St. Thomas of Villa Nova Cemetery. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to a charity of ones choice.

Rose and family, I am deeply saddened by Jack’s passing. We grew up together, went to school together, played together, prayed together as everyone who happened to be at the Ghaney home close to supper time as Tom never missed the family rosary. I can still see Norah playing the fiddle and Jack step dancing and learning the tunes from his mother. We olayed together for years in the band. So sorry. So many memories. deepest condolences Rose.
