It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of John Harvey Rowe, aged 66, of St. John’s, Newfoundland. He hailed from Fogo Island.
John is survived by his sons Joey and Steven, and his grandsons James and William. He is also survived by his siblings Donna (Brian), Pauline (Nelson), Kate (Barry), Oswald (Donna), Sandra, Maxine (Danny), Sheila (Randy), Calvin (Wanda), Mike (Lisa), Lorne (Lisa). As well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his wife Brenda (née Thistle), mother Ella (née Pomeroy), his father Wallace, his brother Paul, his brother David, and his sister Lisa.
An outdoorsman, John found joy and peace in nature. His laughter, kindness, and his love will never fade. He loved fishing, hiking, and story telling. John was a true blue fisherman, he spent many years fishing on both the east and west coast of Canada. John was indeed an avid thalassophile.
Recently, John and Family lost their baby sister Lisa to cancer. John was instrumental in caring for her, showing deep compassion.
John was blessed with the love and support of his sister Sheila, his first cousin Wanda Carey, and his good friend Rhonda Bradbury, whose kindness was always deeply appreciated.
John will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered.
Cremation has taken place. John’s celebration of life will be shared with family and friends at a later date.
Fisherman’s Poem:
I’ve finished life’s chores assigned to me, So put me on a boat headed out to sea. Please send along my fishing pole. For I’ve been invited to the fishin’ hole. Where every day is a day to fish. To fill your heart with every wish. Don’t worry, or feel sad for me, I’m Fishin’ with the master of the Sea. We will miss each other for a while, but you will come and bring a smile. That wouldn’t be long you will see, Till we’re together you and me. To all of those that think of me, Be happy as I go out to sea. If others wonder why I’m missin’ Just tell’ em I’ve gone Fishing!

Hey Steven, I am so sorry to hear about your father’s passing. It has been a couple of decades since we’ve seen each other but I still think of you often. (In fact I now live within a block of your old home in Red Deer when we were kids). I hope you’re doing well with life, my family and I are sending our love and condolences.
