______________________________________________________________________________

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Karen Helen Hill on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at the young age of 43 years. Karen’s personality was larger than life itself with an immense and unwavering passion and love for her daughters. When she was younger, she made many skits and plays, and later in life, she got great joy from playing practical jokes on her friends and family; if you were around her at Hallowe’en, you had best look out! Karen possessed a love for all things different, which made her very open and accepting. She was a true artist and showed her creativity and talent through her photography and paintings. Although she raised her family in Alberta, she was a proud Newfoundlander; she was so elated to bring her family there to show them her roots and culture. Karen will forever be remembered, loved and missed by all who were fortunate to have known her.

“Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times if one only remembers to turn on the light” Albus Dumbledore, from Harry Potter.

Karen is survived by her spouse, Pernel Shilo Hill; daughters, Charis Lynn Hill and Riely Jean Hill; father, Calvin Phillip Brace; mother, Barbara Louise Smith; siblings, Heather (Allen) Hayes and Michelle (Chris) Tait; grandmother, Helen (Elsene) Brace; nieces and nephews, Kailee Hayes, Ava Hayes, Brooklyn Tait and Phoenix Tait, as well as by many extended family and friends.

She is predeceased by her grandparents, Jean and John Anderson; brother, Phillip Brace; grandfather, Alex Brace and step-father, Roland Smith. We will always carry our memories of Karen within our hearts.

For those who so desire, memorial donations in Karen’s name may be made directly to Warming Hearts, Drayton Valley.
