I met Kay when she was my neighbour at Allandale Place. She always had a smile and a twinkle in her eye and when I told my great great grandmother was Kay Grant from Newfoundland (150 years ago) she referred to me as her cousin! I lost touch with Kay after I moved to the East end of Saint John’s but I will always remember her charm and grace!

Dear Doeeen and Darlene,
Your Mom, our Mrs. Neville as we called her, was my Grade 4 teacher at St. Bon’s. She not only skilfully taught us the curriculum but also life skills, such as public speaking, time management and organization. Mrs. Neville was a dedicated teacher, guiding and challenging her students to achieve their potential. We got back in touch in 2011 and exchanged Christmas cards and notes ever since. She was a remarkable woman in so many ways. Mrs. Neville was just the best! My condolences to her family.

Doreen and Darlene,
I am so sorry to hear about your mom’s passing.
Growing up so far away I did not get to know her as well as I would have liked but I will always be grateful to her for helping me in my first year away from home. My cousin and I were in a tough situation in our first two days (a not so good boarding house, missed our appointment at the university etc etc ) We were almost ready to give up and go home. Your mom helped us get into Littledale. Your dad and mom picked us up at the university , took us to the boarding house and transported us and our luggage to Littledale.
I will never forget that. She had me over to supper a few times and made me feel like I could do this.
I’m sure she is dancing with the angels: your dad, my dad, my mom and all her other siblings and family.
Take care you have our (your whole west coast family) heartfelt sympathy.
Love Diane Sansford (Bennett)

Dear Doreen, There are no words to ease the pain of loss of your beloved Mother.
I think this quote from Frederick Buechner could easily be your Mother’s final message to you.
“When you remember me, it means you have carried something of who I am with you, that I have left some mark of who I am on who you are. It means that you can summon me back to your mind even though countless years and miles may stand between us. It means that if we meet again, you will know me. It means that even after I die, you can still see my face and hear my voice and speak to me in your heart.”
― Frederick Buechner
Blessings be yours as you both grieve and celebrate the life of this incredible woman.

Kay’s Family, My condolences to you on your Mom’s passing. I bowled on the same team with your mom for a number of years in the Retired Teachers’ League. We all marvelled at Kay’s attitude towards life. She was so young at heart, so independent and participated in so many activities. She lived a full life. Kay was also very proud of her family and spoke frequently about Kenny and Katie. She would update me on their latest happenings. She enjoyed sharing time with her daughters and grandchildren. Kay was an amazing woman.

Dear Darlene and Doreen,
Our sincere condolences on the passing of your Mom.
I have fond memories of Aunt Kay, as a boy growing up in St John’s. I noticed that she approached life head on and didn’t let setbacks get in her way. She had a quiet confidence in herself and was willing to share her knowledge with others which enabled her to be a wonderful teacher. She also knew how to have fun and I loved her dry sense of humour. Family was everything to her. In recent years I had the opportunity to spend additional time with Aunt Kay and the same qualities were there right to the end. She lived life to the fullest and had an impact on everyone’s life she touched.
Hopefully the memories you have of her will help during this time.
