Keith Brian George Curtis

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Keith Curtis announce his passing due to bowel cancer on Monday, December 15, 2025 at the age of 62 years. He passed peacefully at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta, with his niece, Julia, holding his hand.

He is lovingly remembered by his surviving family including his two brothers, Dana and Craig; his niece Julia (Bill); special cousin Shelby (Derrick); as well as a large circle of other cousins and relatives. Keith was predeceased by his parents, Blanche and David Curtis, as well as his aunts and uncles, Rose and Peter Kennedy, Hilda and Frederick Muggridge, and Sybil Curtis.

The family would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff at The Royal Alexandra for their compassionate care, including Dr. Wong, Dr. Captain, and the palliative care team.

Keith had an interesting and adventurous work life. His first career was in accounting and finance. He worked in both public and private accounting after starting working with Hope Brook Gold. From there Keith worked on applications to support the Hibernia platform. His second career was in IT, where he provided consulting services to develop reusable software in various places and industries. During this time, he had the privilege to not only travel to but live in Texas, Germany, Austria, and South Africa. He subsequently consulted for the Canadian Government and EDC while living in Ottawa. He ended his career in Alberta where he worked with Alberta Health Services, helping to coordinate their changeover to a new medical health information system, ConnectCare.

While Keith was an introvert at heart, he wouldn’t turn down a good party. He remembered fondly his favorite summer spent with family and friends at Stanley’s Steamer. He was no stranger to a long chat, and would spend hours talking with family and friends, with many good laughs shared. He enjoyed some of the finer things in life, a perfectly cooked steak on an evening out, a thought-provoking book, or an expertly executed horror movie. He was brilliant and well informed, and he freely shared his knowledge and wisdom with anyone who was interested. He also enjoyed the outdoors and working out, spending countless hours walking and cycling.

In keeping with Keith’s wishes, cremation has taken place. His funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Carnell’s Funeral Home in St. John’s, NL. Anyone wishing to sign the guest book may do so by visiting www.carnells.com. For those able to attend in person, visitation will be held at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Rd. on Friday, January 16, 2026 from 7-9pm. Interment will take place on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 11am at the Anglican Cemetery on Kenmount Rd.
