Kenneth Philip Wiseman, age 63, of St. Phillip’s, passed away on December 31st following a short but sudden battle with acute illness.
Ken spent much of his working life in construction alongside his brothers, a season marked by hard work, loyalty, and shared purpose. While hard work was important to him, those who knew Ken best will remember him most for his deep love for people and his love of music.
Ken’s quick wit and infectious humour made him the heart of nearly every gathering. If he wasn’t making everyone laugh until their faces hurt, he was playing either the piano or guitar and leading a time of singing. Music was central to who Ken was, and there were few gatherings that did not end with songs of worship to God—moments that reflected his faith and his joy in bringing people together.
Ken is lovingly remembered by his wife, Sandy; his brother, Terry (Carol Anne) Wiseman; his sister-in-law, Cheryl (Steven, deceased); his children, Shelby (Nathan) Thorne and Hilary (Justin) Wiseman; and his six cherished grandchildren, who brought him immense pride and joy.
Pre-deceased by parents Chelsey and Mildred Wiseman, and brother Stephen (Cheryl) Wiseman, but lovingly remembered by many extended family and friends
Visitation will be held at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Rd. on Sunday, January 4th, from 4:00–7:00 p.m.
A funeral service celebrating Ken’s life will take place at Calvary Baptist Church, 775 Topsail Rd. on Tuesday, January 6th, at 1:00 p.m.

The news of Ken’s passing was so sad to hear. He was one in a million. Always found a way to make people laugh and feel loved. He has left a lasting impact on many lives and will be sadly missed. Larry and I are deeply saddened that Ken has passed away.
We first met Ken at Park Avenue Church many years ago.
In 2025 we became reconnected through my role as the Health Care Foundation Showhome Manger.
One day while arriving at work, I noted that the security guard was in a vehicle waiting for me to unlock the door.
To my pleasant surprise, it was none other than Ken Wiseman.
As a diligent security guard he ensured that our staff and visitors were comfortable and safe.
At end of the evenings he secured the home and I never needed to double check anything.
We appreciated him so very much but the bonus was just being around him.
We enjoyed his humour, funny chats and sometimes more in-depth conversations.
We were also pleased to meet his wife, Sandy.
Upon the closing of the 2025 Showhome, we said “See you at next year’s Showhome”
Little did I know then that conversation, the smile and the wave goodbye would be the final one.
We will dearly miss him.

So sorry to hear of Ken’s passing. We first met Ken when we joined the Mount Pearl Lions Club and he was President, and to say that he was a true, dedicated and all around great guy is an understatement.

So sorry for your loss . I was shocked when I heard of Ken’s passing.
We are so sad to hear of Ken’s passing. We have fond memories of many gatherings with songs and laughs throughout the years. Our condolences to his family and friends.
Jan and I are deeply sorry to learn of Ken’s death. I remember Ken well from the Vaters Collegiate Choir… both his singing ability and his humour. We were fortunate to have Ken’s brothers, Terry and Stephen, build a new kitchen for us in 2012 and, through that relationship, were able to reconnect briefly with Ken. I shall always remember his smiling face. We have lost a treasured soul. We are so disappointed that we cannot attend the funeral as we are visiting our daughter and her family in Germany. He was such a kind, gentle man and so hilariously funny….in our memory, the life of every gathering.
Hopefully you can draw some comfort and peace from knowing he’s in Heaven, with his mom, dad, brother Stephen, and all those that loved him and gone on before him….we can see him up there now laughing and joking with our Aunt Betty Wiseman just as they used to do so often in years gone by. Those two were so funny together!!
We will miss him greatly but Thank God 🙏🏻 we will see him again!

So very sad to hear of Ken’s passing. I ran into him this past fall at blood clinic on Major s Path. He had myself and another lady in stitches laughing. I know known Ken since High School. Just a wonderful person and always positive. In his last few years he worked for me and was so good, so dependable and always had a smile. Great singer and true to himself. Always thinking about someone else. A great loss to his Family, friends and work friends. Heaven has gained a new soul and we on earth… bittersweet.

I feel grateful to have worked with Ken – or as we called him, Poppy. He had a way of making people laugh, lifting spirits with his singing, and showing up for others without hesitation. He’ll be remembered with warmth and appreciation.
