It is with great sorrow that the family of Kitty Kit Man Lau (née Lo) announce her sudden passing on February 19th, 2025, at the age of 58.

Kitty was born to Chi Kwong Lo and Sui King Tsui on July 11th, 1966 in Shanghai, China. After spending most of her childhood and adolescence in Hong Kong, she immigrated to Canada to finish secondary school. She then attended Memorial University in St. John’s, Newfoundland, where she met the love of her life and future husband, Alex. They married in 1992 and had 3 children together – Cindy, Nelson and Ryan.

Kitty would go on to settle in St. John’s and lovingly raise a family, in addition to becoming well-known and beloved by many in the local Chinese community. She was also devoted to bettering herself through Toastmasters, where she was highly regarded for her leadership and in welcoming and guiding new members. In her spare time, Kitty greatly enjoyed taking walks, swimming, reading, crocheting, cooking, sharing food as well as spending time with her many close friends, and in her later years, being a proud and devoted grandmother to her young granddaughter, Astrid.

She will be greatly missed by her husband of 33 years, Alex, her children, Cindy (Brandon), Nelson, and Ryan, her granddaughter Astrid, her father Chi Kwong Lo, her mother Sui King Tsui, her father-in-law Siu Sun Lau, mother-in-law Yun Ying Lo, sisters-in-law Kin Fun (Paul) and Grace (Sylvester), Lorraine (Alex), and Mioni (Jackson), her brother-in-law Frankie, as well as her numerous extended family members and dear friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Health Sciences Centre Intensive Care Unit for their exceptional and devoted care of Kitty.

Alex, Cindy, Nelson and Ryan,
I was shocked at the news of Kitty’s passing. All of a sudden, it was hard for me to believe the melancholy news and I was dejected. I have had wonderful memories of her. Just about 9 months ago, I had a short chat with her in Hong Kong. She was a nice lady, amiable and considerate. She cared about people, relatives and cared so much for her feeble old parents that she very often returned to Hong Kong for visiting them.
She was well-loved in the local community for her good work at the Memorial ToastMasters Club, and she will be long remembered by many. As we bid farewell to Kitty, her gorgeous smile will remain in our memories forever.
With deepest sympathy to all of you in your bereavement,

Alex and family
