Obituary

Passed peacefully away into the arms of angels on July 5, 2022, age 91.  Predeceased by her parents, Mae and James Bruce, brother William, sister Gloria and the love of her life, her husband, Lawrence.  Leaving to mourn with wonderful and fond memories are sons Wayne (Bonnie) and Robert; daughters Darlene Neil (Gary) and Laurie McGonigle (Christopher), granddaughters, Paula Squires (Stephen), Karen Mullett (David), Sarah, Bethany McGonigle (Keith), Krista McGonigle (Beatriz), great grandsons Carter and Neil and great granddaughter, Julia.  Also left to mourn are many nieces, nephews and friends.  La’Raine is remembered by all who knew her as a devoted and loving wife, mother, a proud, fond and adoring grandmother and great grandmother, a loyal friend and an inspiration to all.

Cremation has taken place.  Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, St. John’s.  Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 7, 2022 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 pm.    A celebration of La’Raine’s life will take place at St. John the Evangelist Church in Topsail on Friday, July 8th at 11:00 am with interment to follow at St. John The Evangelist Cemetery in Topsail.  A special thank you to the staff at St. Luke’s Nursing Home for their care and compassion.  In lieu of flowers, donations in La’Raine’s name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society , Daffodil Place, or the Dementia/Alzheimer Society of NL.

Darlene and family. I am so sorry to hear of your mothers loss. I have had the pleasure of working with your mom over the past few years. She was certainly a character!!
