It is with heartfelt love and beautiful memories that we announce the passing of Leah Tulk (Winter), who passed peacefully away at the Palliative Care Unit on May 8th, 2025.
Leah was predeceased by her husband Gerald, and her son Derrick.
Leaving to mourn are son Gary, his wife Tina and their children Joshua and Nicholas; son Gerry, his wife Linda and their children Nichole and Holly; Grandson Bryan Tulk and Daughter in law Millie Tulk; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Also, she will be missed by the Spurrell family, with whom Leah had a very special relationship.
We want to thank all the staff at Cambridge Estates, where Leah called home for the past two and a half years. Leah loved her “apartment” and made great friends with the other residents and staff. The care Leah received from all the staff was second to none. They went above and beyond every day, and certainly when we needed it the most. We would also like to thank the staff of the Palliative Care Unit for the excellent care Leah has received in the last few days.
Visitation will take place at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Monday, May 12 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, May 13 at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow in the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road.
We didn’t know how tired you were, how much you gave, or how heavy it all must have felt sometimes.
We didn’t see the worry behind your calm, or the strength it took to let us go our own way.
We didn’t hear the quiet hurt in your heart when we said things without thinking.
We didn’t see the weight behind your smiles or how hard you fought for your joy.
We didn’t realize that our smallest victories were your biggest celebrations.
We didn’t know that your love for us lived in every breath, every thought, every decision.
All we knew was…you were Mom. You loved us.
