It is with sadness that the family of Leo Joseph Clarke announces his passing at the at the age of 93, on April 29, 2025. The loving and devoted husband of Hersy (Hancock) Clarke who predeceased him in 2014. He passed peacefully away at the Tiffany Village Retirement Residence, St. John’s.
Leo was predeceased by his parents Pius Clarke and Bridget (Dunn) Clarke of South Brook, NL and brother Edward (Ned) Clarke and sister Margaret (Clarke) Turner.
Leaving to mourn daughter Cathy Ann (Lionel) Comeau, sons Gerry, Dale (Jackie), Dean (Anna) and Paul, 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Leo was born on February, 26, 1932 and grew up in South Brook and enjoyed the outdoors. This led to his attending the University of New Brunswick Forestry School. Leo enjoyed a long and interesting career with the Federal Forestry services in Corner Brook and St. John’s. He travelled to all parts of Newfoundland and Labrador with a special interest in insects and diseases.
As per Leo’s request, there will be no visitation, and a private family graveside service will take place.
Donations may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Society of Newfoundland and Labrador or a charity of the donors choice.

Seeing his picture brought back so many memories of Corner Brook and the many adventures we had as children.Then having lunch with you guys in Badger when we were on the way to Glovertown.

As a summer student in 1968, Leo was my first boss with Federal Forestry . Spending the summer travelling Central and Western Newfoundland, found Leo to be a true gentleman and great to learn from everything about my chosen profession . Sincere condolences to the family and God Bless..
