Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on Friday, May 24, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer, Leslie Baker, age 68.
Predeceased by his parents Arthur and Christine Baker of Catalina; sister Emily Nash; in-laws Gilbert and Jean Inkpen; and brother-in-law Reginald Brown of St. John’s.
Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 45 years Doris (nee Inkpen) and daughter Stephanie; brother Melvin (Betty); sister-in-law Gillian Brown; brother-in-law Leo Nash; nieces and nephews and a large circle of extended family and friends.
Leslie was a devoted family man and started his career at Newfoundland Telephone. He retired in 2009 after 36 years as a software support specialist. Leslie was a gardening enthusiast and spent much of his retirement in the garden.
The Baker family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses of the HSC emergency room Unit D for their compassion and care, as well as the staff of the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre and the nurses of 4 North A.
Cremation has taken place, and visitation will take place at Carnell’s Funeral Home at 329 Freshwater Road, on Friday May 31st from 2-4 and 7-9.
Funeral service to be held at Carnell’s Memorial Chapel on Saturday June 1st at 11am with inurnment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

So sorry to hear this sad news. I worked with Les at the telephone company for a lot of years and in fact, he retired in the same year as me. Deepest condolences to Doris and Stephanie as well as the rest of his family. RIP Les.
