Linda Bride Richards

November 7, 1956 to September 19, 2026

Obituary

Linda Bride Richards passed away peacefully at the Miller Centre in St. John’s on September 19,2026 surrounded by friends.

Born in Change Islands to George and Leah Richards on November 7, 1956, she lived there until the age of 15 then she moved to St. John’s the city she called home for the remainder of her life and loved dearly.

Linda B was predeceased by her father George, her mother Leah as well as 5 sisters (Mildred, Marie, Georgina, Daphne and Mona) and 1 brother (Eric). Many others including a very special uncle Harold and 2 of her beloved doggies Kenya and Starbrite.

She leaves to mourn Brother Lorne (Sandra) Brother Alvin (Peggy) sister Maxine (Francis) as well as two sisters in laws Madge and Suzanne and brother-in-law Les, 15 nieces and nephews, 32 great nieces and nephews, 2 great-great nephews and one great-great niece, adopted grandson Dean and many cousins and friends. She was blessed with beautiful friends including Linda D, Sarah and Joy whom she counted on often.  Her Aunt Alice and cousin Effie were extra special to her. Linda B’s very special doggy Gloria Joy who brought her more joy than most will ever know.

Linda B spent much of her life caring for children and although she had no children of her own, she has had a large impact in the lives of many, some of which she still spoke of often including April and Tiffany. She loved all her “children “for sure.

She made a few trips to Kenya and Jamaica in her life and loved these countries very much as they gave her beautiful memories that she loved to share and enjoyed simple things like a nice drive, a puzzle, or a good soap opera.

Linda’s love for God was central to her life, and she was a longtime Salvation Army soldier. Her commitment to that fellowship was an important part of who she was, and she especially cherished the Christmas season, when she participated in the Kettle fundraiser. She had positive advice and always a positive voice that left you feeling better about everything (anyone who called and heard her voicemail was left smiling)

Though she faced many challenges in life, Linda did not let hardship harden her. She remained gentle, even when life had given her reasons to be otherwise. That is part of what made her so special.

We encourage all who knew and loved her to remember her with a smile and to try and be kind and positive always as this would be what she would want.

Cremation has been entrusted to Carnell’s funeral home and information regarding a service in St. Johns will be updated later this week.  A burial service will take place at Change Islands date to follow as well.

In lieu of flowers we ask that anyone wishing to give please email to sarah_mcmeekin@hotmail.com( estate executor) Password: LBrichards or charesenormore@hotmail.com(niece) and we will ensure she gets the sendoff she so greatly deserves.

In her words ‘give it to God because God got you! Over and out Linda B ♥️’

I knew Linda as a “Big Sister”. She came to visit us in Africa when we lived there and in particular I will never forget the fun day we spent by the pool – “just us girls”. She stayed a dear and true friend to my parents right up to the day they were promoted to glory. I am honoured to have had had her as a special part of my childhood. My sincere condolences to the family and close friends.
