Obituary

Maple Patricia Hussey of St. Philip’s, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2024, at the age of 84.

Predeceased by her best friend and loving husband Frank; parents Harold and Katie Tucker; brothers Harold, Calvin (Edith), John, Warwick; her sister Daphne (Ken); brother-in-law George Vallis, and her son-in-law Jason Cornick.

Leaving to mourn Maple with fond and loving memories are her children Beverly (Gil), Harold (Trudy), Don (Kerri) and Connie; grandchildren Christopher (Sarah), Cody (Kayla), Katie (Charles), Courtney and Emma; brother Clarence (Lillian); sisters-in-law Louise Tucker and Daphne Vallis. Also, many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Maple was an active member of her community. She found joy in her hobbies, particularly her 50 Plus activities and playing cards with friends. Her zest for life was truly infectious, and she treasured every moment spent with her family and friends. Her legacy of love, kindness, and compassion will forever remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.

The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of 5NA and 4SB at the Health Science Centre for their compassionate care during her illness.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Carnell’s Funeral Home, at 329 Freshwater Road on December 29 from 2-4 and 7-9. The funeral service to take place on December 30, 2024, at 2 pm at the Anglican Church in Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s on 20 Coadys Road. Inurnment to follow immediately after at the Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s Anglican Cemetery.

Our condolences to all Maple’s family. My Mom, Mildred Mercer & Maple were good friends who played cards at the 50 Plus Club with their friends. Mom spoke of Maple often. I spoke to Maple when she attended my mom’s service in June. Very sweer lady. Hold on to the memories!

Maple and I grew up in PCSP and went to school together.After we married and had families we drifted apart, However, after both our husbands passed away we reconnected, We talked every day, were members of Rainbow 50 Pius Club, St. Lawrence card club. We visited each other and went for drives. We enjoyed going to the Seniors home to visit her friend, Margaret Rose.. Maple, I will miss you very much. RIP

We had so much fun playing cards together at the Rainbow 50 plus club. and St. Lawrence Church for many years even during Covid some of us played cards at each other’s house.
