Margaret (Mick) Laura Hunt passed away on October 10, 2021. Predeceased by her husband John Lindhal (Lin) in 1967, Mick never remarried. She leaves Judie (Michael Quebec) in White Rock, BC and Doug (Jane) and two lovely granddaughters, Holly and Caitlin, in Sydney, Australia. Mick was born in St. John’s on March 11, 1935 to Frank and Nina Bennett (née Crosbie), and passed at Karwood Retirement Home in Paradise, with friends and family at her side.

Mick spoke often, and fondly, of the parties and get-togethers with a large, extended family over many year, recounting colourful stories about the continual hijinks with the cousins in her early years, the many holiday and summer gatherings as time passed, and the family support she always felt. Mick had a great sense of humour, and proved often to be the life of a party. She was a proud Newfoundlander, admiring the many talents in the province, enjoying camping, drives in the country and picnics overlooking icebergs, and talking about politics. A life-long dog lover, Mick was an ardent volunteer with the SPCA, fostering many rescued dogs, and providing a loving home to others. Over the years, Mick made a number of friends and, while many are now gone, she had strong bonds and caring, close friendships.

Judie and Doug thank the kind, caring staff at Karwood (with special appreciation to Gary and his wife, Vicki), and are grateful for the kindness, love and patience given by the family, particularly Dorian Rowe and Beep Ayre, who were located closer to Mom.

Funeral service will be held from the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Friday, October 15 at 9:30 a.m., followed by interment at the Forest Road Anglican Cemetery.   In light of COVID-19, the funeral service will be livestreamed for those unable to attend in person, with the link available above. Neither flowers nor donations are expected; if you wish to make a donation, please know that Mick always held the St. John’s SPCA in high esteem.

Judie and Doug
So very sorry to read your mom has passed.
I remember her from childhood years
Always the life of a party and funny!
There are so many of her friends gone before her
Waiting to greet her.
May she Rest In Peace

I was very saddened to hear that Margaret had passed. I’ve been seeing her for a few years. We became friends quickly. I would love to come visit her and enjoyed her humour and wit. She always took the time to ask about my kids. And my husband at sea. We shared a scattered coffee and a story. I took her for lunch one day and she only ordered dessert. She said life is short. Eat the cake. I can get a sandwich any day! Rest In Peace friend. I will miss you!

I have only known Margaret for the short time we spent together at Karwood. I would spend half hour a day sitting with her in her room chatting. She was feisty….but she stole my heart very quickly. The world lost a wonderful soul and I already miss her very much.

Judi & Doug, So sorry to hear of your Mothers passing. We were good friends back in the 80’s and unfortunately lost touch. I have fond memories of the times we spent together. She was quite the character–we had many laughs.Thought of you all often. May good memories carry you both through this sad time. RIP Mick..

Judy and Doug, so sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. I’ll never forget the party we had downstairs that she rented to me and the beautiful championship peke dog (Span) that she gave. me. Such a wonderful person she was!! I think of you both so often, especially now at this difficult time. My condolences and FONDEST regards to you both. Clayton.
