With saddened hearts, the family of Marina Sullivan, beloved wife, mother, sister, friend, and teacher announce her sudden passing at home on April 20, 2019. Marina passed away in the arms of her loving husband and life partner, Jeff Sullivan and with her boys. She was only 56. Leaving to celebrate her wonderful life and generous soul are the four loves of her life – her husband of 34 years, Jeff, and her three sons, Justin, Jeffrey, and Marcus. Her family also are left bereft of her presence – her sisters, Bernadette (Martin Tessier), Vina (John McClintock), her brother Bernie, and her mother, Marina Broderick; sisters-in-law, Betty Lahey (Pat), and Nancy Elkins (John); brother-in-law, Carl Sullivan; her nieces and nephews who loved her: Olivia and Daniel Tessier, Victoria McClintock, Javelin and Gage Broderick, Michael and Andrew Lahey, Zachary and Jacob Elkins, and Mackenzie, Alexander and Nicolas Sullivan; special friends, Yvonne Sullivan and Mary Broderick; aunts, uncles, cousins and a large circle of friends also mourn her passing. Predeceased by her loving father, Bernard F. Broderick, and the parents she gained in marriage whom she loved, Angus and Minnie Sullivan.
Marina always had a smile and a kind word for everyone, and her generosity and compassion knew no bounds. She volunteered in her community of Bauline and sang with a pure and generous voice at the All Saints Anglican Church in Pouch Cove. She loved to share a cup of tea with her ACW ladies, but it was her own collection of teacups at home that she so lovingly filled for her family and friends at any and every opportunity. Her passion for decoration and gardening reflected her keen eye for beauty, and in turn, she saw the beauty in everything and everyone.
Marina’s second passion was travelling the world and exploring everything it could teach her. She loved to visit the sights, but she also took time to talk to people, and they always responded to her. She had a passion for airports, and her go-go-go attitude was a force to be reckoned with.
Marina was a gift not only to her family and friends, but to everyone who knew her. Please join us in remembering the life of a truly wonderful person who will always be loved and missed – it’s hard to forget someone who gave you so much to remember.

The family would like to thank the Pouch Cove Volunteer Fire Department for their rapidity and professionalism. Our thanks also go out to Fred Murrin of The Cabinet Maker in Torbay. Marina appreciated beautiful things, and Fred has helped us to honour her uniqueness and her wishes in the most beautiful way.
Marina Sullivan is resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road. Her family will be with her for one last time on Thursday, April 25 from 2 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from All Saints Anglican Church in Pouch Cove on Friday, April 26 at 2 p.m. Cremation to follow. Flowers are gratefully accepted because she loved them so much, or donations made be made in Marina’s memory to the Janeway Hospital.
Marcus would like to announce that his mother Marina and Father Jeff were married on August 24, 1984 and this year they would have been celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary.

Such fond memories of this family on Gilbert St years ago. My deepest condolences.
From her warm smile and friendly hallway chit chat to her kind words and actions, she was the highest example of a passionate teacher who loved her students and the work she did. She inspired countless learning minds in her classroom and was a constant support to all her students, especially those who required a little extra of her time to truly succeed in their learning. No one was ever turned away. To her family, the deepest condolences to you all. I have no doubt that her loss will be incredibly difficult on each of you and all of you collectively. The thoughts of all of her former students are with you all at this difficult time.
Jeff and family, condolences to you and the boys as you journey through your loss. The beautiful memories that you created as a family will help you through this difficult time. Prayers and blessings to all. Love Lorna & Desiree

Duane and I are so very sad to hear of Marina’s sudden passing. Marina, was always a ray of sunshine, from her large beautiful smile which certainly expressed her personality to her interesting and professional words of encouragement. We know she will be missed by anyone who knew her, we first met Marina when she taught our boys Science at MPI and had later become friends. Our hearts are broken for you and you are all in our thoughts during this most difficult time in your lives. Hugs!
