Mary Francis Murphy

September 9, 1950 to January 22, 2022

Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Francis Murphy after a lengthy courageous battle with cancer.

Mary Francis Murphy, age 71, passed peacefully away at the palliative care unit on Jan 22, 2202 in the presence of her husband Des. Unfortunately, due to covid restrictions Mary’s entire family and friends were unable to visit her, but rest assure she was aware of all your love and well wishes.

Predeceased by her parents Violet and Vince Raymond and many aunts and uncles.

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband of 50 years Des; sons Tony (Michelle) and Chris; grandchildren Riely and Willow; sisters Peggy (Rick), Marion (Brian), Connie (Craig); brothers Gerry, Vince (Alice), Paul (Donna), Terry, Des (Ramona); brother in law Kevin; nieces Kim, Vanessa, Stephanie, Shannon, Sarah, Jessica, and Madison; nephews Bradley, Liam, Mitchell, Ryan and Justin; as well as close friends John and Patsy Murphy.

Mary had a personality larger than life that could only be matched by the size of her heart. Mary had great love and pride for her family, she loved being the big sister and favorite aunt. She cherished family events and was always taking pictures that she turned into gifts.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the nurses and doctors involved in Mary’s care at St. Clare’s ER, ICU, 6E, endoscopy as well as the staff at the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy cancer clinic and the Palliative care unit at the Miller Center.

Special thanks to Mary’s sister Connie and Dr. Thava who went above and beyond to care for and help Mary during her lengthy illness.

As per Mary’s wishes cremation has taken place and we will announce a service time when covid restrictions allow us to invite her friends and extended family to celebrate her life with us.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation.

  In true Mary form

“Remember me with smiles and laughter for that is how I will remember you all, if you can only remember me with tears then don’t remember me at all.”

I have so many fond memories of Mary, she was a joy to be around.

Mary, rest in peace and may God surround you with His light, love and peace. I know Mr. Neary is welcoming you with open arms, for you were one of his favorites. Some people leave an impression that can’t be erased, you were one of those people.

Mary Murphy such a strong and resilient women who has made a difference in so many lives, especially mine.
At times you acted so tuff but was a softy with the kindest most generous heart. You never believed in taking it easy, if one door closed for you, you would open another. Always there with a helping hand for anyone. . I’ve know you a long time but you became my sister of my heart when you took me under your wing and gave me the freedom to create and love your decorating business.. Your brides always got more then they expected and more then you got paid because each bride was special to you . You made sure their wedding day was as special as they dreamed it would be no matter what the cost even a broken leg. Mary you touched so many lives as you walked this earth but lady did you ever leave a remarkable impression on us all Love you lady ❤️ always and forever
Sending much love to Des and all her family . May all the wonderful memories help you during these dark and sad days
❤️Always

My most heartfelt condolences to all Mary’s family. May she Rest in Peace.

Dear Des, Tony and Chris, and all close family,

Please accept our heartfelt condolences. Mary got to grow-up in such a huge, varied family. My best memories of her are the many Sundays we spent as children gathered in Goulds with the Raymond’ clan all those years ago.

Mary was eight years older then me and back in those days, was one of the “grown-up” kids who automatically “shepherded” the huge number of kids her Grand Mother proudly acknowledged.

Nothing but fond memories.
