Obituary
Died peacefully on Sunday, November 27, 2016, in the arms of his loving family, Melvin Edward Tilley age 78 years, of Torbay, NL, as a result of an accidental fall. Predeceased by eldest son Craig Tilley (Ocean Ranger disaster). Leaving to mourn his loving wife Judy Tilley, daughter Barbie (Brendan Cadigan), son Shannon Tilley (Jennifer Ireland), grandchildren Evan Strange (his father Lew Strange), Ryan and Shaye Tilley. Mother in-law June Noseworthy, sisters and brothers in-law Kathy and Frank Howse, Sandy and Joe Kavanagh, Bill and Doug Noseworthy and their families. Also Bill and Brenda Coaker and the extended Coaker family. Sisters and brothers Barbara, David, Louise and special cousin Olga Martin and their families. Also leaving to mourn a large circle of long time friends and also their special neighbors from Karon Drive. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Tuesday, November 29th from 12-9 pm and Wednesday 10 am -12 pm. Funeral Liturgy Wednesday November 30, 2 pm St. Nicholas Anglican Church Interment St. Nicholas Cemetery. Flowers from immediate family only, Donations gratefully accepted to St. Nicholas Building Fund. C/O St. Nicholas Anglican Church, 13 St. Nicholas Lane, Torbay NL A1K 1B3.

I was listening to Dolly Parton today and thought about Mel. We were great friends in our youth loving skating and dancing. I was dismayed to discover that he had died accidentally. He is not the first of my friends to have done so. I cherish my memory of Mel he was a sweet and considerate individual. Belated condolences!

To Judy, Shannon et all – Our sincere condolences to you all for your loss. Mel certainly had a presence, was well known wherever he went, ad was a valued member of the Newfoundland Brokerage team. He helped me cut my teeth in the brokerage business along with Frank O’Grady and others. I remember all to well the great banter between Frank (confectionary) and Mel (grocery) as we sat on the sidelines with smiles laughing at the two of them for hours. I can only guess they have found each other and are at it again enjoying each others company. Hoping you are cherishing the memories as I am. Wishing you all the best.
