Obituary

Passed peacefully away at the L.A. Miller Centre on September 25th, 2021 Melvina Decker of Mt. Pearl (formerly of Cooks Hr.) in her 85th year.

Predeceased by husband Lewis; infant son; parents Maude and Bertram Elliott; parents-in-law Beryl and Charles Decker; sisters Eyvonne, Edith, Dora (Herbert), Gladys (Ernie), brothers Caleb (Cornelia), Oswald; sisters-in-law Maude (Garland), Carrie (Walter), Hayes; brothers-in-law Fred (Ida), Alfred.

Left with fond and loving memories daughters Shirley and Faye; granddaughter Kimberley (Wayde) Brown; great grandchildren Kaleb and Olivia whom she adored; brother Amos (Faye deceased); sister Rachel (Allan) Jones; sisters-in-law Jean Decker, Marjorie Wade and Emma Elliott; brothers-in-law Wesley Field, David Stroud, Melvin Decker (Christina), Aubrey Decker (Barbara) and Wilson Decker (Debbie); many nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Palliative Care Unit at the L.A. Miller Centre, Thanks as well to all the doctors and staff in all departments who have been involved in the care and support of Mom during her illness.

Visitation will be held at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road from 2-4 p.m. on Monday September 27th. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 28th, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. from the Carnell Memorial Chapel. Interment to take place at the Anglican Cemetery in Cooks Hr. at a later date

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation or a charity of one’s choice.

Shirley, Faye, Kim and family, your Mom was a very gentle soul, her smile which she had for everyone was the first sign of how gentle she was.
