Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mike Kelly at the age of 53.  After a few years of illness, Mike passed peacefully at home.

Leaving to mourn him are his wife of 18 years, Leanne (née Power) and daughters Julia, Jennifer and Jessica; his mother Blanche; brother Gary (Heather Locke) and nephews Liam, Lucas and Ryan. Mother-in-law Judy Power; sister in-law Andrea (Dean Jones), nephews Alex and Gareth, and niece Morgan; along with a close circle of family and friends.

Mike loved the outdoors, especially fishing and moose hunting – for which we all know he had a story to tell. Mike is predeceased by his father Ed Kelly and father-in-law Dave Power.  It brings such happiness to know you are together again spending every day on the water.

I am very sorry to hear this news. For many years Mike and I would have chats (mostly in the middle of the road) about our mutual love of golden retrievers. I noted many times over the past year or so that I was not seeing Mike and wondered why. Now I know. I am very sorry for your loss Leanne. Mike was a great man.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to entire Kelly family, especially Leanne and the girls. I started in the pharma Industry at about the same time as Mike and we worked together for many years and became close friends . He certainly loved the outdoors as we took several fishing trips together both in Newfoundland and in NB. I will truly miss his big smile and all his hunting and fishing stories. RIP my friend

Gary – Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and many friends of your dear brother Mike. I will always remember the mutual admiration and friendship between you two and recall Mike as a such a nice gentleman. I know that family, friends and faith will see everyone through this sad time and allow focus on the many great memories of Mike. God bless Mike Kelly.

Kelly Families; please accept my deepest condolences for your loss. Though I did not know Mike per se, I knew of him through my wonderful friendship with his brother Gary when he lived in Paradise back in the 1990’s. Mike would visit our neighborhood on occasion and I could see the bond that he and Gary shared; both having a great (and impish) sense of humor!
May your memories of Michael sustain you and give you comfort in the days and weeks ahead. RIP Mike.

My deepest condolences Leanne to you and your girls. My heart is broke for you all. Mike was a good man and always carried a smile. You are in my thoughts during this difficult time and the days that lie ahead.

Leanne, Blanche and the Kelly family Freeman and I were so saddened to hear of Michael’s passing yesterday. Michael called me a little while ago and we had a great chat. We were so lucky to have know him for a lot of years and Freeman got the opportunity to help him with some work on the cabin that he dearly loved in Howley. They had a beautiful wedding at the cabin and we were honored to be part of the guest. I still remember the two dogs all dressed in the tux for the ceremony and one of them was Howley. Well put together. He sure had a big heart and a beautiful smile. Leanne keep your beautiful memories close to your heart to help ease the pain you are feeling right now. I am sure he will be watching over you and his beautiful girls. RIP Michael.

Leanne, Julia, Jessica and Jennifer,

To Leanne and Family
I was deeply saddened when I heard of Mikes passing.. I first met Mike in his role as a pharmaceutical rep. and we later became close friends. I always remember Mike as a jovial guy who always had a hunting and fishing story to tell. He loved the outdoors , especially the cabin he built in Howley . I remember the good times we had playing golf. I specifically remember myself and Mike taking a bucket of balls and hitting them into the water at the cabin. Mike was a sincere, kind and generous friend who I will remember fondly. My sincerest condolences to you and your family. Mike will live on in all our hearts.

My heart goes out to each and every one that were blessed to know Mike. For me personally, Mike and Leanne were a big part of my childhood, and I have such great memories and love for them. Mike was such a kind soul with a huge positive attitude, and walking through the doors to get his hug was one of my favorite things to do! Mike always believed in me, and helped give me the positive attitude I have today. I will forever cherish the happy times, and remember the big goofy grin he would have after doing something silly, to make us laugh.
Heaven gained a beautiful soul, and we will all miss him..

I am very sorry to hear of this sad news. Leanne, my heart goes out to you. Your deep love for Mike was always apparent, and the memory of watching you both happy on the dance floor is with many of us. Mike was a great outgoing guy and will be missed. I hope you and the girls can take some comfort in your memories during the hard days ahead.

Sincerest condolences to Mike’s entire family on his passing. Mike and si joined the pharmaceutical industry as sales reps at about the same time. We would often run into each other on the road, and later when our companies merged we worked together. He always wore a bright smile and was fun to be around. A kind and considerate gentlemen who has left us too early. He will be missed.

My heart hurts reading this. Mike was my work big brother in pharma for many years. He was a walking encyclopedia and was always willing to provide advice and guidance. He will be missed. 🙁 Huge hugs to Leanne, Julia, Jennifer and Jessica.

To all the family and friends of Mike , please accept my condolences. I worked with Mike at HMR and Aventis pharma. Mike took me on my first NL salmon trip. This trip was notable because Mike planned it for NS and NL customers. This trip was probably the greatest working memory I have – he has shared with me a deep appreciation for NL and the he many treats Mother Nature has the province. Famous line he would say to me whether we were on the Gander River or Sharing a drink on a Mexican beach -“Campbell – we are blessed – just look at it all!”. Rest In Peace Mike. You have left a little bit of yourself in all of us who have had the pleasure of your company.
Kind regards
Mark Campbell

Sincere condolences to the Kelly family. I had known Mike for years during my time with SDM . We always had a great time at the SDM Golf Tournament and Mike was a pleasure to be around. I can’t believe his passing as I woke up this morning. A man who has passed way too early and will be sorrily missed. His smile, his laughter, and his common concern for others will carry on.
