Passed peacefully away at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on April 1, 2022, Myra Maude Yeo (nee Tetford), age 86 years.

Leaving to mourn her husband Hubert and daughter Sharon Reid, sister Pearl Batten and sister in law Lorraine Miller, nieces and nephews Donna Batten, Philip Aylward (Faith), Lar Aylward (Brigitta), Majella Aylward (Marion), Irene Burke (George), Joanne Mallay (Ernie), Sam Andrews (Julie), Tony Reid (Mary), Terry, Jennifer Tippett, Heather Ryan and Adam Miller, Marie Clarke (Dave), Lynn Shell (Martin) and David Vokey (Joy).

Predeceased by first husband Samuel Reid, parents Albert and Myra Tetford, sister Cavell, brother David and brother James Vokey and sister in law Mary Vokey, brother in law Gordon Batten, sister in law Marie Aylward and her husband Frank, nephews Father Francis Aylward and Jerome Aylward, sister in law Lillian Andrews and her husband David, and brother in law Eric Reid.

Mom left her hometown of Shearstown in 1952 and moved to Montreal where she lived with her brother Jim. There she took a comptometer operator course and went to work at Ogilvy’s in accounting. After a few years in Montreal, she moved back to Newfoundland. Mom worked at CNR and Imperial Oil and spent her last 29 working years at Golden Eagle/Ultramar. Mom loved to bake, knit, crochet and spending time in Shearstown. Mom loved all animals especially dogs. (Including family pets Sport, Butch, Kimmie, Muffie and Rosie.) Mom always had treats in her pocket for all the neighbourhood dogs.

Many thanks to the caring staff of Bishops Gardens, where she lived since August 2021 and 7E and 4W of St. Clare’s Hospital.

Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Monday, April 4 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. and on Tuesday, April 5 from 10 a.m. – 12 noon. Funeral service will be held from The Carnell Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, April 5 at 2 p.m. Interment to follow at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Bauline Line, Torbay. The funeral service will be livestreamed for those who are unable to attend.

I worked with Maude at Golden Eagle for eleven years. She was a lovely lady. I never knew Maude not to have a smile on her face. She was always ready to help if required. I really admired Maude during the years I worked at Golden Eagle. R.I.P. Maude.
