Obituary

 

Norma Julia Brown (nee Chapman) of St. John’s, Newfoundland peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, October 9, 2022 aged 89 years.

 

Predeceased by her husband Douglas (2006).

 

Left to mourn with fond and loving memories children John (Janet), Lois Downey (Ron), Rick, Robert (Gloria), Harry (Rhonda), Millie (Don Fry), Renee Short (Harvey). Cherished Nana to 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

 

She will also be greatly missed by sister Joan Fagen, brother Harry and very special sister-in-law Inez. Predeceased by sisters Dorothy Lethbridge (Eric) and Juanita Hodder.

 

Norma was a faith-filled woman and long time member of the Parish of the Ascension in Mount Pearl. She enjoyed playing Bridge with her friends and was an avid swimmer for many years.

 

The family wishes to thank the staff at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital for their compassionate care.

 

Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Wednesday, October 12 from 2-6 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the Church of the Ascension on Thursday, October 13 at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road.

 

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Parish of the Ascension would be appreciated by the family.

So sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing. We were friends for many years when we lived in Mt. Pearl., and have great memories of parties and. card games many years ago. She was a beautiful lady and was determined to live every day to the fullest.

I spent many nights at your house, cabin and even on vacations! I have so many fond memories of her and hope you find some comfort in all of your happy memories as well.
