With heavy hearts and a lifetime of wonderful memories we announce the passing of Olga Benson at Pleasantview Towers on Wednesday May 30, 2018, at the age of 83 years. Predeceased by her parents Anastasia and William Benson; and brothers Harvey, William and Leslie. Leaving to mourn husband Jonah; daughter Valerie Benson (Jason Byrne); son Stephen (Colleen); grandson Riley Byrne; granddaughters Amanda and Michaela Benson; sister Sylvia Phalen (Douglas); brother Roy (Betty) and sisters in law June Benson and Geneva Ivany (Ross); also, a number of other relatives and friends. In 1974, Olga along side her husband, Joe, became co-founders of Woodland Nurseries. A strong family run business that Olga took pride in. The family would like to thank the staff of 2 North East for the care and compassion shown towards Olga during her stay there over the last few years. Resting at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Friday June 1 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will take place at St. Augustine’s Anglican Church on Saturday June 2 at 2:00 p.m. with interment to following at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to Alzheimer’s Society.
