With profound grief and much sadness, we announce the very peaceful passing of our mother Olga Lillian Spurrell of St. Philip’s at the wonderful age of 96 years.  Olga passed peacefully away at her residence in the early hours of June 28, 2025 surrounded by the love she deeply deserved and willingly gave every day.  Surrounded by two people, Glenda and Todd, who provided comfort, love and care each and every day and was by her side until she left our home for her new home in Heaven.  A tremendous loss not only to Glenda and Todd but to many people who dearly loved her.

Olga was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband, Jordan in October 1987, her daughter Sheila (husband Jim – deceased) in July 2017,  her daughter Betty in March 2025 and special son-in-law, Noel Parsons (1993).  Olga was the last surviving daughter of Kenneth and Annie Squires.  Also preceded in death by her four sisters, one brother and many other family members and friends.

Left with broken, but grateful hearts, to have her in our lives for 96 wonderful years are her sons and daughters Pauline (Mackey), Kenneth (Deanne – deceased), Bill (Viola), Melvin (Donna) and Glenda (Todd).  Her 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, also Len Fowler who was her late daughter Betty’s partner in life.

Olga will be remembered for her gentle soul, the love she had for her family and the willingness to help people as much as she could.  She always believed it was important to be friendly to people, laugh as it was good for the soul and to make sure if you did a job it was done right the first time.  She had a positive spirit and always wanted to move forward in life.  A lovely woman who was full of pride.

Glenda and Todd would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of support and the beautiful comments we have received for caring for our precious Mother.  She was the light of our lives that grew a little dimmer just two short weeks ago.  We are feeling a tremendous loss in our lives but will never be able to express the gratitude that we feel in our hearts knowing we gave her the very best life anyone could ever imagine.  She was included in everything we did in life.  We love you Mom and we will be together again some day.  Rest in peace by beautiful Mom, your life on earth may be over but we are so proud to know you belonged to us.

My deepest condolences to all of the Spurrell family!

To the Spurrell family, whenever I would see your Mother, she always asked about my sister Joan, reminiscing about traveling to town on Lindberg’s bus. I promised your Mother, the next time Joan came home for a holiday we would get together and we did!

Glenda and Todd, your Mom was beyond Blessed to have had you.
