Patricia Delaney

March 15, 1930 to September 14, 2017

A Teacher, volunteer, world traveller, orator, english scholar, wonderful Mother and friend has left this world a better place. Patricia Marie Delaney (child of the Universe as she often pointed out) was born in Grand Falls in 1930 to May Walsh of Argentia and James Delaney of Placentia. She was a gifted student and talented soprano who graduated Mount St Vincent University before marrying Austin Davis (deceased). They had five much loved children Richard (deceased), Gerry (Felice), Evelyn, Siobhan (Pat Coady) and Renee. She adored her grandchildren Brook, Jake, Delaney, Ryan and Marc who will all miss her dearly. A dedicated lifelong volunteer, she most recently contributed to VOWR and to the Seniors Resource Centre where she taught safety and fraud awareness. She travelled the world and had many great adventures with her best friend Susan Capps. She looked forward to her daily walks around Kenny’s Pond together with Susan and Verna Parsons – the ducks and crows will miss her treats. She loved her nieces and nephews, cousins and family very much and always appreciated their company and their kindness. She enjoyed her life at Kenny’s Pond Residence and had a full social calendar. She will surely find a good game of bridge in heaven. She lived her life to the fullest and often said she was blessed. As were we.  Words can not adequately describe the gratitude the family feels for the incredible care, concern and kindness given by the nurses, doctors and therapists in both the ER and 4SB especially Krista and Dr Nedd. There truly are angels amongst us.  Resting at Carnell’s Funeral home, 329 Freshwater Road. Visitation on Sunday, September 17th from 7 to 9 pm and Monday, September 18th from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9pm. Mass of Christian Burial to be held at Mary Queen of Peace, Torbay Road at 11 am Tuesday, September 19th. Internment in Grand Falls Windsor on Thursday, September 20th. No flowers by request. Mass cards or donations to your local food bank or charity of ones choice gratefully received.

Betty and I have the fondest memories of Pat. She was one of those rare persons who set and maintained a high standard of life and living for the benefit of all of us. But most of all was her constant star of being non-judgemental. That, for us, truly signifies a life well-lived. We thank you for that Pat

Siobhan and Family,

I was fortunate enough over the past 6 years to see and speak with your Mother almost daily while at Kenny’s Pond. I will always remember those little jokes and how much she enjoyed telling them. Such a positive strong and loving spirit with just a few words could make you feel better about your day. Loved and admired she was we will miss her dearly. Sincerest condolences to you and your family.

Siobhan, Pat and family,

There is no doubt your mothers passion for life will continue through each of children and their families. We are so fortunate to have had our mother’s love and strength for such a long time. May you each find peace as you share stories of love and laughter as you say farewell to your mom. With our prayers and sympathies,

I remember Aunt Pat’s great sense of fun, warmth and caring. She loved life and was a great example to all of us how to live and love. Peace and love to all her family and friends.

We are sorry to hear of Pat’s passing. I spent several years as a coworker with Pat at CONA where she performed diligently. May she rest in peace.

I am very sorry for your loss. I first met Pat at MQP Parish and our friendship continued when I started bringing Holy Communion to Kenny’s Pond. Through my visits Pat got to know my little granddaughters ages 3 and 5 and she loved when they came to visit. Pat was very spiritual and she looked forward to this prayer service. I will miss her very much.

I am very sorry for your loss and the deepest condolences to your family. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Words can’t express what Pat meant to me and my family. She was an amazing human being, spirit, and cherished friend. She loved unconditionally and lived life to the fullest. We valued every minute we got to spend with Pat. She was a special grandmother to my children and they cherish the cards she mailed to them on January 1, 2000 from Antarctica (that took almost one year to the day to reach them). She was so very proud of Ricky, Gerry, Evelyn, Siobhan and Renee as well as her grandchildren Marc, Ryan, Delaney, Jake and Brooke and and spoke of them with great pride and affection. She loved life, lived it to the fullest and the world is a better place because she was in it. She will be sorely missed but forever in our hearts. We love you Pat. Heaven has reclaimed an angel.

My Deepest Condolences to all the Family

Ms Delaney was a very Beautiful Lady.I was so Happy to have met her and enjoyed every moment that I spent in her company, every time I entered her room she would asked me if she could share one of her little jokes with me, and of course we always had a great laugh, (but she wouldn’t tell me where she got them from, lol ) I certainly have a new outlook when I see crows now, she was so proud of her Family and she would tell me who was in each picture many times,I am so very grateful to have met such an wonderful person, may you rest rest in peace.

So sorry to hear of Pat’s passing. I will miss her Christmas card. We had a great relationship as colleague and friend at the Department of Education. She was truly one of the best. Rest easy dear friend!

Shocked and saddened to hear about the passing of your Mom. I often think about the Saturdays at your house when your Mom would come home with her $200.00 worth of groceries and without fail she always had wagon wheels and a big bag of bubble gum. I can still see her sitting in her chair in the corner smoking her cameos and putting them out in her tall ashtray only half smoked. She will be missed . She is now in a much better place shining down on you all!
Love Always

Siobhan and family, our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. We have many fond memories of your Mom and her stories and adventures, live on. Love from Lucy and Jim
