Pat, AnneMarie & Kathy.
Pat, just learned of the passing of Peter, father to Ann Marie and Kathy.
My heart felt symathies go to each one of you as well to the Withers clan.
Peter will always be remembered for the man he made himself into, government official, a consultant. and a man who was devoted to family, friends and church. He was respected by alll who knew him.
MAY HE REST IN PEACE., my friend.
Gone, but never forgotten.

Dear Mrs. Withers, Ann Marie, and Kathy,

I was so sorry to learn of Mr. Withers passing. Mr. Wither’s was one of the kindest and articulate gentlemen I have ever met. I have so many fond memories of him from Deer Park, our boat trip to Placentia Bay, and numerous one on one conversations over the years. As both a child and an adult Mr. Withers always made time for me and showed genuine interest in things that were important to me like school, work, and sports. Whether at your family home or mine I always looked forward to him pulling me aside for an update.

Today and always, may your loving memories of Mr. Withers bring you peace, comfort, and strength.

God Bless….Peter

My deepest sympathy to the Withers family on the passing of Peter.

I knew him very well from his work as a civil servant
in different positions within the NL Public Service.

He was a true gentleman at all times and his work ethic was strong and fair.

May his soul R.I.P. and the Sacred Heart of Jesus shine upon his soul.

To the Withers family,

I am very sorry for your loss and regret not being able to tell you in person.

To Pat and the Withers family.
My father John O’Dea, when he was alive, cherished his friendship with Peter and Pat. Dad always spoke very fondly of Peter.
Peter added new dimensions to the term “Gentleman” . He was indeed a special person who will be missed by all. My sincere condolences to Pat and the Withers family . Sorry I cannot express my condolences in person. I am out of town
.
Best Regards
Chris O’Dea

Pat and family:

I met Peter first when I became Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing in 1974.

He quickly became my Deputy Minister and was invaluable support as we reformed theDepartment.

Later he remained a adiviser, sometimes known , many times unknown, as I moved on to other Departments and eventually Premier. He advised me on most of the big issues of the day even outside his traditional expertise.

One of the unsung heroes of the Public Service . Truly an outstanding Public Servant and Newfoundlander . I shall never forget him, his loyalty and sound advice at all time.s.

To Pat and Family my sincere condolences —we have lost a great husband, father and friend.

Hon. A. Brian Peckford P.C.

It was with great sadness that my wife Brenda and I learned of Peter’s passing. Peter was my boss, when he was Chair of the Public Service Commission. However he soon became a mentor and a friend. His guidance was very much appreciated. It was his sense of humor and infectious laugh that warmed the hearts of those of us who knew him and who were blessed to have worked with him.
Brenda and I were hoping to make it home to St John’s this year for Regatta Day. We spoke of having seen Peter and Pat on their walk around the pond on the Tuesday evenings prior to the races.
I am saddened by his passing but proud to have known him. All our best to Pat and family.
