Obituary
It is with deep sadness that the family of Peter Joseph Thorpe announces his peaceful passing on Sunday, November 27, 2022, with his daughters by his side. Pete Top was 70 years of age.
He is predeceased by his parents, Peter (Old Pete) and Eileen.
Leaving to mourn are son Dave (Tracey), Tina (Darcy Hallett), Stephanie (Josh Shultz), Nancy (Rick Noftall), their mother Judy, grandchildren Matthew, Thomas, Brianna, Naveed, Oliver, Ava, and Adelaine, and lifelong friends Robin Jones and Wayne Snow.
Peter was well known in his home town of St. Philip’s for his love of rowing in the St. Philip’s Regatta. He could either be found at the woodpile, cod jigging, or walking around the beach.
The family will receive visitors at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Friday, December 2nd from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Saturday, December 3rd at 2 p.m.
Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in Peter’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Pete’s sudden passing. A man of few words, but he left a large footprint in our little village. Cords of Burch (da besta) how many did he and Judy split? When Pete and Robin Jones signed up to row, defeat was never an option. During Pete’s well deserved retirement, I knew summer had arrived when he would start wearing shorts! Our little village is missing you and will remember you fondly. God’s Speed

I remember when Pete used to come into Mom’s store and he was always polite and pleasant, never had much to say though. He was very quiet which was sometimes a blessing for her but other times she would have liked him to be more forthcoming with a bit of “news” from down on the beach. He was a very nice gentleman and will be missed.
