With sad hearts we regret to announce the passing of our mom Phyllis Fry.   Phyllis was born in Hearts Delight in 1933. While living in Montreal she had five beautiful children. In 1978 she moved home and for twenty years she worked at Woolco/Walmart. After retiring, she started volunteering at Blood services, 50 plus club and St. John’s seniors club. Her volunteering continued until she was well into her 80s.

Phyllis can be described as an outgoing, kind, caring, loving and generous woman. As soon as you met her you were family. She was so much fun to be around and lived life to the fullest. She loved to dance and was active in aerobics at the Mews Center. Phyllis took a special interest in astrology. She appreciated a wide variety of music, even the interesting choices of her grandchildren. Her outlook on life is an inspiration for all who knew her.

Family was her foremost pride and joy. She wholeheartedly loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Very important to her was her parish and church family at Saint Michael and All Angels.

Predeceased by her son, Brian Fry (Colleen); brothers, Maxwell Sooley (Dorothy) and Clarence Sooley; sister, Viola “Audry” Sooley; father, Bertrum Sooley; mother, Elizabeth Ann; sister-in-law, Sheila Sooley; and brother-in-law, Harrison Fry (Annie/Madelyn).

Left to mourn are her sons, Kenny Fry (Carolle) and Tom Fry (Arlene); daughters, Diane Dawson (Michael) and Susan Manning (Ted); brother, Allan Sooley (Christine); sister-in-law, Henrietta Ellis (Frazer), daughter-in-law, Colleen; grandchildren, Jessica Hammond (Dave), Nicole Dawson, Alexandria Reid (Samuel), Shawn Dawson, Michael Manning, Samantha Fry, Emily Manning, and Taylor Scanlan (Ian); great grandchildren, Liam Reid, Ethan Hammond, Ariel Reid, Nicholas Hammond, and Jack Scanlan; as well as a large circle of family and friends who truly loved her.  Special thanks to close friend and neighbour Carol Wickham, Father Michael Horlick, and close friend Darlene Jackman.

The family will receive visitors at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Monday, July 25th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm.  The funeral will take place from Saint Michael and All Angels Church, 75 Kiwanis Drive, on Tuesday, July 26th at 11am.

Donations in Phyllis’ name may be made to either the Tri-Cone Special Olympics or TCP Autism Family Group.

Your words “ Phyllis can be described as an outgoing, kind, caring, loving and generous woman. As soon as you met her you were family.” is how I would truly describe her. Through my aunt, Louise Reid, I was so fortunate to meet Phyllis on her visits to Toronto. We actually drove them to a wedding in Kincardine. What laughs we shared. Then in 2019, I ran into Phyllis again in Whitbourne, NL. What a surprise and laugh we enjoyed together. Your mom, was indeed a very special lady. RIP and may she already be singing with God’s angels.
