Phyllis Thistle

Obituary

Passed peacefully away on January 1, 2022, at the Health Sciences Centre, in St. John’s, Newfoundland at the age of 68 years old.

Leaving with a lifetime of memories and wisdom her two daughters Jennifer and Julie McCabe; her one and only grandson Joshua McCabe to whom she devoted her later years of life to raising; and numerous family and friends from Newfoundland to Ontario, namely Sandy and Martene in Ontario who share decades of friendship despite distance; Tracy, her niece and kindred spirit; as well as her coffee buddies from Paradise Tim Hortons.

Phyllis was a dynamic soul who managed to turn around a terminal diagnosis in 2016 and inspire everyone around her to live life in full bloom. Her lengthy battle with cancer ultimately ended but her story and spirit is one that will live on in the hearts of everyone she touched.

A heartfelt thanks go to her oncologist Dr. Lester for the ongoing support and kindness she graced her with.

A special acknowledgement to Holy Family Parish, as well as Father Charlie Kelly for the years of her career which she speaks so dearly about.

Cremation has taken place and a private family service and celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
