Ray was dearly loved by his family and friends. He was well known for his kindness and generosity, even though he thought he didn’t have much to give. As a mechanic he touched the lives of many people in our community. He loved the time spent in the garage with people always stopping in to have a chat and a laugh, a lot of times he would take them over to the house to have a bit of dinner and a cup of tea. Ray was well respected by everyone that knew him. He was the best husband, father, grandfather and great – grandfather that we could ever ask for.
We would also like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Cardiac Care Unit, Health Science Center who offered compassionate care in his last few days.
As per his wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors and share memories at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road, on Saturday, September 14 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm and 7:00 – 9:00pm. Donations in his honour can be made to a local food bank (Bridges To Hope, Community Food Sharing Association, Emmaus House Foodbank) or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
We loved you daddy, with our whole hearts! You will be deeply missed by many.
Fly high with the Angels, until we meet again.

Dear Alice, Renee, Tina, Lisa and and the children, deepest, deepest sympathy and love to you all. To Ray’s siblings, Archdeacon John, Hilda, Ed and their families, I know Ray’s death has broken all your hearts, as did the deaths of your other family members, Harvey, Brenda,Leo, Vic, Gerald and Jean. This Sharpe family has one particular trait that makes them exceptional. Dear Aunt Elsie passed down the gene that results in kindness, gentleness, and generosity. She was the epitome of sweetness, and so were all her children. She could also be funny, but the humor gene came from Uncle Jack (sometimes a bit off colour). The whole family had hearts of gold. They were generous to a fault, they would just as soon give you something as sell it to you. It is likely why they have stayed in business all those years. There is no space to list the personal generosity I have received from this family. John and Cynthia even took me in for 3 mo ths when I had to go to NB as part of my training. They fed me, nurtured me and wanted nothing in return. There were/are many other Instances of generosity from other members of that family. Ray was kind, gentle and sweet. I last ran into him at the store. I know he hasn’t been well. His pain is over now. He is joining his loved ones who have gone before, the family chain is coming together again, near to the throne of God. Alice, his children, Hilda, John and Ed, you all know, in God’s good time, you will all be together again. Until then, may Ray rest in peace and rise in glory. God bless you all. Much love, cousin Shirley and Charlie.
Sorry to hear of Ray’s passing. Deepest sympathies
